If you're using a press to flatten your hamburger patties, try making them square/rectangular like a Wendy's patty.

I use a glass container and press the burger into that shape at whatever thickness that amount of burger makes.

You can also use waxed or parchment paper, placing the meat in the center, and folding the 4 sides inward to get the size patty desired.  Then just press the meat into that shape.

Don't ask me why, because I'm not sure.  All I know is instead of bulging flying saucer shaped burgers, they cook up flat and even,

Pressing a burger flat will lose the juices inside.  You should cook to a few degrees under your desired temp, then let it rest for 3-5 minutes.  It'll continue to cook to temp, and the juices will remain in the burger slightly solidified to avoid them running all over the place at first bite.

The longer I live, the more convinced I am that there's no such thing as NORMAL.

I think most people conflate "normal" with "ideal."

May 12 is National Hospital Day.
I was going to visit some family in the hospital, but I decided to stay home and make bullets. 🤣

From what I see, National Hospital Day is part of National Hospital Week and is meant to give the public a positive perspective of the healthcare system.

So, it would be more in line with the holiday to send edible arrangements to an ER that treated you or a loved one recently with excellent professionalism and personal comfort.

Or you could take your doctor out to the range, but you should check into his 2A/gun stance beforehand.   :geekdanc:

« on: May 09, 2026, 01:00:55 AM »
If Roy had no financial gain in this, or political gain as Kealoha was in a bad way at the time, why did he push the payment? Same with the other 2.  A simple "lets check with legal if we can do this" would have solved all the problems.  "sorry Louie, we can't pay you out as we don't have the money." And if he sues, then let it be.  All the blame would be off their shoulders as legal told them they can't do this.

Motive doesn't have to be something you want.  It could also be preventing something you don't want.  For all we know at this point, there could have been a threat on his or a family member's life.

It doesn't take more than a few crime dramas to come up with a list of motives that are more sticks than carrots.  In a corrupt goernment, it seems there's always someone spilling dirt on someone else.

Why is Roy in trouble?  Because the Feds are doing the investigating.

If this had been kept in-house at the state level, there would be no need for a scapegoat since those rarely look for the truth or wrongdoing.  I believe this is a follow-on investigation from the mailbox case.

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/04/29/feds-decriminalize-medical-marijuana/

How long until the BATFE and states change the rules for transferring and owning firearms?

ATF Form 4473, 21(f.):
Quote
Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized
for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

The news article says the feds decriminalized medical marijuana, not all uses.  So, I guess it's still possible to be "an unlawful user" without a Medical Marijuana prescription.  But, it would eliminate having to choose between legally owning guns or legally being prescribed MM.  Baby steps ...

Where did I mention OTC drugs ?
Show me where I said you mentioned OTC drugs.

I was establishing a point of fact to show that many drugs we use without a prescription are available to the public and can be abused.

This was a tie-in for the next fact -- that the DOJ categorizes drugs as a given schedule type based on it's risk of abuse.  It has nothing to do with medicinal benefits, how lethal abusing the substance can be, or other criteria people tend to argue for and against when debating the legalization of pot.

But hallucinogens are what my post is about, not DOJ schedules or potential abuse.
That is true, but the topic is about reclassification of cannabus.  It's completely reasonable to assume your comments were made within that scope and context.

By the way, have you ever heard of someone overdosing on  DMT, psilocin, psilocybin, mescaline, DOM, Nexus, 25I, MDA, or LSD ?
[/quote]
Now you're doing what I just described:  arguing about overdoses leading to death as opposed to the potential risk of abusing the substance.  Two different criteria.  If we used lethality of drugs to assign schedule classifications, it wouldn't matter. You want to argue that drug abuse is not as bad if the risk of death is less?  I don't want to put words in your virtual mouth, so correct me if I'm wrong. There are plenty of consequences of drug abuse that don't include death: financial ruin, destroying marriages and other relationships, ancillary crimes like theft or prostitution to support their habit, impact on the work force, and so on.

And masturbation is a gateway habit for teens. Once they abuse themselves enough times,
they may start seeking out more dangerous sexual deviance to achieve the same level of euphoria.

"Americans for Ibogaine CEO W. Bryan Hubbard: “This began with a small group who refused to accept the status quo and fought to bring ibogaine into the United States healthcare system"

Wikipedia
"Nausea and vomiting can be severe.
Subjects may experience extreme confusion and/or a depressed mood.
Nausea, headaches, and other side effects linger.
Insomnia, irritability, and mood changes are often seen, including depression and sometimes mania.
Depression can persist well after 36 hours, known as a "grey day"; the effect is well-recognized
significant acute and long-term adverse events (especially cardiac issues like QTc prolongation), including fatalities
Ibogaine can cause various cardiovascular changes (e.g., slowed heart rate, blood pressure shifts), neurological effects (ataxia, tremor, mania), and rare but serious complications, including arrhythmias, respiratory failure, and death
A 2022 review found 58 ibogaine-associated emergencies, including 38 deaths

While I agree of the use of psychedelic drugs for the treatment of psychological issues, this drug seems more of a profit maker at the health expense of those treated.
Why not go back to that good ole Lysergic acid diethylamide 25, or the organic Shrooms and Peyote?
Never heard of any of those bad side affects in those, cept maybe some nausea on the shrooms
First, over-the-counter drugs are not included in the DOJ Drug Schedule lists. Some OTC drugs do present a risk of abuse, such as taking more than directed or using it for problems unrelated to the drug's intended purpose.  We see tha with cold and cough medicines.

Second, the DOJ schedules are supposed to be based on the potential for abuse of a drug, not really whether it's a hallucinogen etc.

Pot is still considered a gateway drug for teens.  Once they abuse that enough times, they may start seeking out more dangerous drugs to achieve the same level of euphoria.

DNC politicians are blaming Trump fro no tourism due to his tariffs and higher gas prices. They leave out casino's trying to squeeze every dime out of their customers and how it's cheaper to go elsewhere now.

NV gets their gas from CA and the gas prices have slowly increasing prior to Iran due to CA shutting down some refinery's.  But again, DNC politicians leave that out too.
Are you surprised?

Everyone -- president, governor, legislator, mayor, council member, etc. -- gets 100% of the blame by the other side of the aisle for anything that can be characterized as bad, and 0% of the credit for the good stuff.

There's almost no issue that involves exclusive unilateral decision making by the chief executive officer at most levels.  The top boss establishes policies and objectives normally, and the people who report to him/her implement those things.  Often it's the implementation that involves stupid laws, bad changes to services or just cost-cutting that hurst the public at large while keeping those making the decisions on track to wealth and personal exploitation of the "system."

If you're familiar with the Washington Monument Syndrome, you already know that it's not the person trying to cut the budget who is to blame for the pain and agony experienced by the citizenry.  Fueling public outrage over policy decisions that were not to blame for the direct impact on the public (i.e. the gov't shutdown and food stamps/EBT stoppage) is how their opponents weaponize those decisions to be used in the next election.

National 2A Day

Don't ask me why it's April 17, I don't know.
But I do intend to exercise my 2A right today.
Quote
National 2A Day is observed on April 17 every year as an American holiday celebrating the
Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which protects the right of Americans to keep
and bear arms.  The day was created by Deborah Lane in 2019 to honor the founding fathers'
foresight in enshrining these rights, though some sources note the Second Amendment
Foundation (SAF) established a version of the observance in 2013.

Historical Context: The Second Amendment was ratified on December 15, 1791, as part of
the Bill of Rights, but April 17 was chosen for the national observance to commemorate the
right itself.

State Observances: While the national day is April 17, specific states observe their own
versions, such as Oklahoma (June 28, marking the McDonald v. City of Chicago ruling) and
Pennsylvania (the fourth Tuesday of May).

Alternative Dates: Some organizations, like Brownells, have promoted a separate "National
2A Day" on February 22 to celebrate Second Amendment rights with events like free firearm
rentals at ranges.

Celebrities, politicians, and advocacy groups like the NRA often participate in events ranging
from rallies and funfairs to online discussions using the hashtag #2ADay.  In recent years,
these celebrations have also coincided with legislative victories, such as the elimination of the
$200 federal tax stamp on suppressors effective January 1, 2026.

These are great for kitchens, bedrooms, and any other room where furniture or countertop appliances are situated in front of the outlet.

I have both right- and left-hand-pivot cords.  If the electric item is to the right of the outlet the plug needs to have the cord to the right of the outlet.  Otherwise, the cord would have to do a reverse bend and be less aesthetic.

In addition, I also bought some very short cords with regular plugs.  I use these on my UPS (Battery backup) for my electronics.  Many devices use power brick adapters or larger-than-normal plugs which can block one or more outlets on the UPS.  The extensions create a uniform set of plugs for the UPS outlets ensuring all outlets accessible.

Seems more anti American Democracy than pro gun. Of course I was raised around guns as a boy in California. My best friends parents were immigrant farm workers from Mexico that taught me to make my own weapons. I respected and learned many lessons from them that taught me to respect and work with all people. My grandfather was a  farmer and I came to know many workers that would come to work and then return to their homes and families after each season.

i've stated MULTIPLE times that your theory was only stated by yourself rather than the group as you initially stated
would you say that's an agreement or a disagreement?
you must be dumber than i previously thought, which i would have thought was impossible...
I don't believe he's super stupid, just argumentative.  No matter what anyone posts, he tries to flaunt his "objectivity" and "neutrality" -- until it comes to Trump.  Then he's diametrically opposed to whatever was posted by default.

Maybe he is that stupid and believes the crap he's always shoveling?  I think it's more him just trying to be included in discussions by playing devil's advocate and pretending it's intended to make others think.  In fact, it's just arguing for the sake of arguing to get attention.
