Preparedness and Survival / Re: Prep Test Sucess
« on: March 15, 2026, 12:46:20 AM »
We ended our evening making fried spam and instant mash with a Coleman canister stove. The water stayed on so no problem for doing dishes and we keep a stash of paper plates to save on water if it were to go out. Power came back on in Mililani around 0145. I heard my wife bragging up my preps to the mother-in-law. High praise!

Preparedness and Survival / Prep Test Sucess
« on: March 13, 2026, 06:30:25 PM »
The power is out in Mililani so I’m testing out my gear.

Boiled water for ramen on a Trangia alcohol stove. My wife went with a mountain house meal as a moral booster. (gallons of iso alcohol in storage)

I’ve got rechargeable AA’s and a usb AA charger for my am/fm radio. I’ve also got a bunch of 5,000 and 10,000 mAh usb backup batteries as well as fold out solar panels to charge them. I can still get a little juice even when it’s overcast.

I’ve got candles and some usb rechargeable nitecore flashlights for light and years worth of matches, zippos, and zippo fluid.

Good to go for weeks if needed. How are you guys doing?

The only advice I’d take from the author is how to eat an entire pan of brownies in one sitting.

One last trick. Slot the screwdriver into the screw head and give the handle a solid whack. I’ve used this technique defeated red loctite in the past.

You will probably have to give it multiple hits.

I know you want me to say booty but I'm thinking that first mate is the better punchline.

I finally got around to picking up an auto.  Bought a Lightning OTF drop point off Grindworkx. ($25+$6 shipping)   I enjoyed it so much that a week later I pulled the trigger on a Kershaw Livewire Tanto.  No wonder the fun police banned auto knives.  I can't stop playing with them.  Click, Click, Click, Click!

I’m a bit of a Jackalope enthusiast. How about that $50/oz silver though?

I spent a lot of time there at Ft. McCoy during my time in the national guard.  I hope you got to enjoy some Wisconsin favorites.  Supper Clubs, Kwik Trip, Fleet Farm, Leinenkugel's beer, and cheese curds.  Hope you had a great trip and lots of good memories..

If you're ever curious about a vessel you can do a search for AIS details.  https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-157.928/centery:21.349/zoom:14

I keep a Costco sized stash of paper plates and bowls and wooden chopsticks with the intent that I can incinerate them in the grill instead of using wash water. Added benefit that it reduces trash if an emergency would interrupt garbage service.

Their website says freight forwarding is required for Hawaii. I haven’t bought from them since 12-21. Is this new?

You don’t think there’s some value in being able to easily buy them?  It’s not like cops are patting you down daily. Read your previous. I get where you’re coming from.

The hearing is 24 hours later on 2/22 at 2pm.

This bill allows possession of butterfly knives and switchblades, but you cannot conceal it.

I’m surprised. What are your thoughts on this?
