if this passes, will mainland vendors, e.g. Brownells, etc, stop selling parts for AR's to Hawaii?  like barrels, BCG's, triggers, buffer tubes, buttstocks, ...  detents, etc.?

I'm guessing their lawyers will tell them to to err on the side of litigation caution?

Soon, very soon these dumb people who voted for the dumb people who drafted these dumb laws will see the error of their ways.

Soon.  Very soon.

I'll be right there, right in their faces.  Telling them go. Go cry me a river.
I think they are too dumb to be able to see the error of their ways.  Think AOC, Jasmine Crockett.  They couldn't see the error of their ways if it ran them over, and then backed up over them to dot the i's and cross the t's.

their rationalization skills are off the charts.  like TDS on steroids.  it's unfortunate.  in the olden days, "Darwin" would solve the problem.

Trusting your life to the benevolence of an armed criminal is not a strategy, it is just plain stupidity.

Time to Gut and replace  you know....
wasn't there a ruckus a few years back where the legislators did a "gut and replace" on something else and it got everybody's panties in a bunch?  I forgot what the specifics were in that case, I don't think it was 2A-related, but the slime-ball tactic made the news.

reading this new bill.. I dont see anything about magazine limits.. just "fixed" mags.. also is that stuff about anything before July 8th, a grandfather clause? I know its all shit just want to understand it.
@k3k0a808

i'm looking at SB401 HD1 (I think that's the right one?):

Quote
page 10
16 (c) The manufacture, possession, sale, barter, trade,
17 gift, transfer, or acquisition of detachable [ammunition]
18 magazines with a capacity in excess of ten rounds [which] that
19 are designed for or capable of use with [a pistol is] any
20 firearm shall be prohibited.

expands the current 10rd pistol mag limit to all firearms.

the 50cal ban also bans Desert Eagle 50AE as far as I can tell, for what it's worth.  Neither here nor there, since nobody has those anyways, right?

So you think these are counterproductively political?
I think the one with Tim Walz is okay.  he's a perfect Fudd.

instead of Elon, perhaps use David Hogg.  or who else is a famous flaming anti-gunner?  only other one that comes to mind is Karl Rhoads?

Final Report came out.

they were making a turn, for the middle part of the turn, they steered a course to north (land), put it in autopilot, and then forgot they were in autopilot as the ship continued towards land.  Ship wouldn't respond to requested change in course to complete the turn to east.  In a panic, they increased power while pointing the controls for the thrusters to turn, but since in autopilot, the thruster steering was controlled by the computer, not the operators' steering wheel, and it just went downhill from there.

after they ran aground, somebody said "do you want to take it out of auto now".  seriously!

Captain issued orders to abandon ship, but told people to "go to the loo first", and maybe get warm clothes, and then decided instead to expedite getting off the ship.

Apparently, the ships captain did not have the necessary training on how to operate the ship, it has some unusual technical propulsion features which proved to be their undoing.

DEI strikes again.  JMO.

reminds me of that Peter Paul & Mary song, with the line "where have all the young men gone"

Mary Travers passed away in 2009.  Peter Yarrow just passed away January 2025 (the guy that had the thing with a 14YOgal, pardoned by Jimmy Carter).  Paul Stookey is still hanging on.

reminiscing.  Trip down Memory Lane.

Global Tariff War

what happened to no new wars (that's a rhetorical joke).

"it's a huge shit sandwich..."

I get the trade imbalance, EU has been having their way with us, from pillar to post, yup, it's a day of reckoning, just that it's a little painful to just rip the giant-size band-aid off.

i'll bet Putin was tempted to use one of those Oreshniks on the Wiesbaden Intel center, but that would probably trigger a NATO war.  Nevertheless, that place is solely and directly responsible for the successful killing of a shit-ton of Russian soldiers, and destruction of ammo depots, refineries, etc, by Ukrainian artillery, bombs, and drones.

must be frustrating to Putin, would be awfully tempting ...

although:

nowadays, a recent study of the UKR-RUS war, shows that 75% of war deaths and injuries are caused by FPV drones, 20% by artillery, and only 4% caused by small arms fire.  average med evac time was 14.5hrs, influenced by the omnipresent drone threat.

9 minute video on impact of drone warfare.

I wonder if they're going all-in because after this year, the USAID funding dries up.  i.e. it's all-or-nothing this year.

gut-and-replace is nothing new for Hawaii legislators.  same-old, same-old, nothing to see here, move along.

slimy con-artists.

apparently, Trump is resuming full-on military aid to UKR (not what I voted for).

interesting NYT read on the US-UKR-allies intel fusion center at Wiesbaden, providing targeting info to UKR artillery, drones, etc.:

... and in other news, the Ukraine Army, flush with the success of the Sudzha/Kursk incursion, have decided to duplicate that strategy about 35km south of Sudzha, attacking towards the Russian towns of Demidovka, Grafovka, and Preleslye, in Belgorod Oblast.  They managed to go forward about 1-2km, depending on how you measure, before being stopped by Russian drones, bombs, artillery, and not-frequently-used (due to MANPAD proliferation) Ka-52 and Mi-28 helicopters.  Like Kursk, the approach paths from Maryino and Turiya is now littered with burned-out "Amerikanski" vehicles, courtesy of auto-pen Biden, at no cost to Ukraine, except of course for Ukrainian lives lost.

Having lost Kursk, Zelinsky really wants to get another "bargaining chip", it seems, no matter the cost.

This is about "ghost guns".  Apparently our prosecution cannot prosecute someone yet and needs this law.

in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine did recapture some of Udachne and Kotlyne, and Pischane nearby, but that's a back-and-forth story, changes every day.  Zelinsky has probably ordered that "to the last Ukrainian" for those locations to prevent the Pokrovsk coal mine from going to the Russians.

Similarly, Ukraine did recapture some of Toretsk, but it looks like as of today, Russia is slowly recapturing that back, but it goes back and forth.
Ukraine also recaptured Fyholivka up north.

but in the meantime, the Russians have take numerous towns and villages.  But noteworthy, Pyatykhatky at the southern front.  Also Bilohorivka, and Zahryzove, Zapadne, Topoli.  to mention a few.  Up by Kursk, the Russians have pushed into Sumi Oblast (Ukraine) and taken Novenkoye and Basovka.  Just how far into Sumi they'll push, is anybody's guess at this point.

more Russian gains than Ukrainian gains, the Ukrainian gains are usually the exception.

i think Putin wanted protections for Russian-speaking people in Ukraine.

so the Ukrainian Parliament is trying to pass a law to make it illegal to speak Russian in Ukraine.

Bill passes, Shimizu only no vote. 2 others absent, I don't remember who.

They're going to merge this with HB893 the assault weapon and mag ban.
Holy Cow!  they're going all-in, going for all the marbles.
