just put in an order with Kaleo Arms. should arrive early December. merry Christmas to me!  :geekdanc:
@stangzilla

just curious how you ordered, did you ask Kaleo to find the specific type of ammo for you, or did you order through a mainland vendor and ship to Crary?

sounds too good to be true.  Maybe because the USAID money dried up?  too much Soros-money scrutiny?

just wait for it .... psych!

sorry, imma have to wait till election season rolls around before I believe that.

Kaleo shipping for my last order was appx $1.70 per pound.   Delivered a couple weeks ago.  Ordered from various vendors in August.

Jen mentioned the next ship date is probably in December.

General Discussion / Re: Glock to discontinue models

Also, if you believe that they will not ultimately try to go after legacy Glocks in private hands - after having already declared them “readily convertible to machine pistols,” as currently produced by the manufacturer, well, putting it kindly, you are willfully deceiving yourself.

that's some scary shit right there.  Glocks have become ubiquitous, they've become "Common Usage".

i would suspect there's more Glocks out there in civilian hands, than 1911's.

I wonder how this will affect Glock clones?  like the PSA Dagger (G19 clone)?  my guess, similarly to be discontinued due to liability concerns.

something about that gap between the pistol grip and the back of the lower receiver.

so, at the factory, G uses a jig to index the buffer tube, torques the assembly, and done.

receiver end-plate doesn't index the buffer tube.
if you disassemble it, if you don't have a jig, it's just the good old Mk 2 eyeball to get it all straight.

i guess you ought to be using a jig for alignment anyways, especially if you own the Bentley, not just your two knees for this creme de la creme of rifles, eh?

between those two choices, i'd take the 6.5 JesusMore.  also referred to as 6.5 man-bun.
and I have both 308 and 6.5CM.

but actually, my next build is a 20" 6ARC.

we've been getting KR3 range dates several times a month lately.  For instance, August, we have 3 range dates, including this coming Saturday (23rd).  This past weekend, we had 1 shooter use the range, most of our "regulars" were out-of-town.   For September it looks like we have 3 KR3 range dates.  Sometimes it's more, sometimes less, depending on the Army's usage and needs.  I think Guard and Reservists also use it on weekends.  We get what's left, and what we're able to staff.  There's 6 shooting positions now, and if there's more than 6 people showing up, people buddy-up: e.g. one person shoots, one person spots.  Something like that.

All firearms must be registered with the Army Provost Marshal Office (MP's) before bringing them on base.  The PMO uses the HPD registration as their basis.

my current Kaleo order has stuff from SGAmmo, Sportsman Fulfillment, and probably Frisco Guns (trying them out for the 1st time, some really good prices, free shipping), and Rivertown Munitions.  There's usually a minimum order to get the free shipping.  And AmmoSeek is your friend ( i use their "shipping filters").

I've ordered many times from SGAmmo, good prices, free shipping, very quick processing, but they still charge sales tax, ND rates, I believe.  I also like Rivertown, am a repeat customer, because free shipping and no tax, also quick shippers.  By free shipping, I mean free shipping to ND.  In the past, I've ordered ammo from Brownells, Midway, Target Sports, J&G Sales, White Birch Armory, LAX Ammo, Recoil Gunworks, Able's Ammo, Berelli, Midsouth Shooters Supply, and Kosher Surplus, all in the pursuit of the right ammo at the right price.  Some companies won't sell if the shipping address (ND) is different than the billing address (HI), can't blame them.

Kaleo's service provides the shipping from ND to my house.  "This is how I learned to pay attention to ammo shipping weight."  so I can budget & estimate my Kaleo freight charge for when my ammo is landed.  My last Kaleo order was in 2023, so I'm thankful to see they're still up & running.

for comparison, here's some of my 2023 all-in landed (shipping, taxes, everything), cost-per-round for some ammos:
Hornady 6ARC Black $1.31 cpr
Federal 9mm 124gr HST +P $0.68 cpr
S&B 6.5CM 140gr FMJ $1.04 cpr
S&B 6.5CM 142gr HPBT $1.34 cpr
Norma 6.5CM 143gr HPBT $1.52 cpr
Federal Truball 12ga 1oz slugs $1.47 cpr

that was in Dec 2023.  prices will vary, and so do shipping costs.  I think some ammo prices have actually gone down, since then.  For instance, the Norma 6.5CM 143gr is 20 cents-per round cheaper today, than 2023.

was shooting my 14.7" (P&W) 6mm ARC AR. getting consistent hits on a boulder at 1,000yds.   ;D
1-10x LPVO.  Hornady 108gr ELDM, Craddock RTR.

It was a nice day.  and then it rained on my parade.  literally.  rain.  Weather forecast said Sunny & Breezy.  They lied.  oh well.

Schofield KR3:

afore-mentioned boulder, little red arrow, upper, center of pic:

note: the closest of the white silhouettes is about 580yds.

This ought to be a clue for them to stop.  9th is Hawaii's Circus, so no chance of it surviving an appeal.

If there's one thing I can't stand is a money grab for one's own stupidity.

I used to say "God bless the retardeds" but now I'm thinking they should all just go to hell.
litigation is out-of-control in this country.  a.k.a. "Litigation Lottery".

ACLU used to be a good thing, now they're just domestic economic lawfare terrorists.  Except for the 2nd Amendment, lawfare is really pushing the envelope of the original Bill of Rights, IMHO, and has probably gone to far, far beyond what our Founding Fathers intended.  and the liberals' infringement of the 2nd Amendment goes drastically in the opposite direction.

yeah, preaching to the choir.

General Discussion / Re: Any Ranges on Oahu that Allow Shotguns ?
« on: July 22, 2025, 12:36:21 AM »
Schofield Rod and Gun has skeet and trap ranges.   Also open shoot with shotgun.

People who don't have base access can go there and shoot?

People who don't have base access can get on-base by going through the visitor inspection lane:  license, registration, proof-of insurance, open the hood, trunk etc, depending on "threat conditions".

For all persons, to bring firearms onto Schofield, the firearms must be registered in-advance with the Army Provost Marshal (military police) before you bring them on-base.  Army registration requires showing the HPD registration, not the firearm itself.

if you're not military-affiliated, or DoD-associated, your best bet is to find out if any of your friends or relatives are SRGC members, and if they'd be willing to have you as a guest at one of the range sessions.  Keep in mind this is a military-associated private organization, not open to the general public.  All of the above still applies.

Shotguns are allowed at the KR4 range, up to 12ga, no ammo restrictions, along with pistols, and rifles (7.62 and below).  In addition to goings-on at the SRGC Skeet Range.

this is all detailed on the SRGC website, in their Consolidate Range SOP:  https://www.srgchi.org/publications.html.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I’m a revolver & shotgun guy - never thought about buying a rifle here, but ever since Everytown for Internment Camps really, really, doesn’t want me to have a rifle, it’s crystal clear that I really, really should be buying one.

I really like the M14, and know I can get an M1A in .308 from Springfield - an awesome and plentiful cartridge it seems, but I’d I’m attracted to the smaller armory-made ones, which are all in the original 7.62 chambering.

Is 7.62 readily available out here, and if (hopefully) so, where’s the best place to buy it?

Thanks in advance for your time in helping me out!
wait till you discover AR-10's.  and then go into 6.5CM.   now you got an ammo feeding habit.

  ;D
