I loaded some cheap midrange 45 practice ammo with 185 swc and BE.
But the linkage on my Dillon powder measure sort of broke. Nothing serious,  just annoying.
It's around 35 yrs old so I can't really complain.

I loaded some .38 Super ammo this morning--135 & 147 grain coated Bear Creek swaged bullets and some 147 grain plated bullets.  I'll need to order more bullets for load development.
This afternoon the .45 ACP factory crimp die I ordered came in but not the .38 Super.

Contacted Dillon about my powder measure and they replied immediately to say that they will send a new replacement part...no charge.

Accumulated a few k of 45acp brass so I started tumbling them. Will load more practice ammo today.

The media is starting to look grungy and the motor bearings need lube. To save money, I might try washing the media. It's my blend of corn and walnut.

Ran off some more 45 practice ammo for Sunday.
I use newspapers to wipe off the residual case lube.
Thank you j.green for attempting to shut down our public range.

This is the practice ammo I made.
It is a soft swaged lead swc hp. It is powered by a light charge of  bullseye because the metal is so soft I can easily dent it with my fingernail.
Also, if you drive it too fast, it will foul your bbl and the low recoil is better for arthritic fingers.

Furthermore, it hangs up on the throat because the metal is too soft. Seating depth appears long, but it's not.
Basically, it's crappy ammo.
The only reason I shoot it is because I got the bullets cheap.

going to practice 45 tomorrow so I made some 45 lswc ammo using some pretty old bullseye powder.
Just low power stuff. 200 gr. at about 750 fps.
I need the practice. Muscles and eyesight are getting old. :(

Made some lightweight 45acp ammo. 160 gr. Lswc. With old bullseye powder. Speed was lower than expected. Accuracy was ok.
These are not great for action pistol competition. Even my hot load didn't make major pf while burning quite a bit of powder.
I'll just use these for marksmanship practice.
Photograph is in the "going to the range" thread.

45 ACP-I had some bad experience reloading brass with the "A USA" headstamp.
So I loaded 50 rounds using that brass to see if I can figure out if there is a chronic problem.
The first thing I noticed was that quality control seems spotty.
The headstamps are NOT consistent. The lettering seems to vary.
Will shoot these on Friday, if possible.
(conventional 200 gr LSWC with 4.2 Bullseye and Winchester primers...a mild practice load)

yes. first time using his projectiles. looks really nice. I'll test them out this weekend. my friend just got a new chrono, so we'll see how the velocity is too. using 7.7 grains of accurate #5 which is the recommended starting load according to my book. looking forward to it
I'll probably get more from Stan in 357 and 44. he does nice work for a great price.

Stan's bullets are great. I just shot some a few weeks ago. Right now I'm trying to use up a bunch of junky bullets I had sitting around for years. I save his for special occasions.

he is a really good guy to do such work at a very fair price. and the presentation in the box is great. it must be very time consuming
I'm going to shoot these 45's out of my Ruger Vaquero. love that gun. shoots great for having only a rear gutter site
then I'll load more and shoot out of my 1911's

I used to pay my kids a few bucks to stack up my bullets like that.
I also paid them to load the primer tubes.

I think these 45 bullets and my Springfield range officer target should make a good tag team. I haven't shot that pistol in years
