The have some cool stuff here.  Laser cutter and CNC router.  Not sure if they can help with making the files and stuff for that.  I've been looking into the vacuum former there because I have some molds that I'd like to try in it.

Great idea, but I'm already on their "No Return" list for doing the same exact thing with beeveedees.  >:(

I hope you didn't switch to Walmart!!  If so, I'll have to find somewhere else for my briefs!!

And if you have, please consider those kernals of corn my personal gift to you.

Nice find, s15; I had no idea this place existed!

Here's the catch:

Membership levels are broken down by access and duration. You can occupy the space for very little money if you do not use very many resources as a “reader”. You can also pay for any level of membership by the day, month, or year. The longer the membership you buy, the cheaper it gets because it gives us more room to plan for occupancy. For full “Maker” Membership, at the annual rate of $2000/year, you save $640 over Monthly Membership and you save $7125 over Daily Membership.

They have daily maker memberships. Chart with daily prices is further down page.  Just can't buy daily online in advance.  Daily will work perfect for me since I can do most what of I want at home and then pay for a daily membership when I'm ready to use the vacuum former or welders.

Just called "makers space" (808)351-8059 and talked to Ross - it's $25.00 per day to use their tools. Also asked about using their laser to cut foam, it's ok as long as it does not produce any toxic smoke. He said you can bring down a sample and he can let you know if it's ok or not.

I used my gerber pocket tool to cut my pelican foam to fit my custom bolt gun and it really looks like ass  :( really want to redo it.

I think Google gives/sells a tool called SketchUp. Free and paid versions just like Google Earth.

Not sure how well it works exporting a file for CNC laser though.

Interested to hear your experiment with this!

Let me look around...I might still have a copy of my AutoCAD software around the house. If not, Autodesk (maker of AutoCAD) will mail you a copy of the software that will give you 30 days before it stops working (at least that is how it used to be when I was actually doing Design Engineering...

Much appreciated, bruddah michalebsdad!  :shaka:

If you can't find it, no worries... I'll also look into that Autodesk thing.

But damn.... which company mails trial software in today's day and age?!?

I would have hoped they'd have gotten aboard the "download trial software" train!!

Just checked, you can download free trails...
