Everybody in the modern world IS going to get exposed to this along with all sorts of other viruses.
Much like Chicken Pox. Once you get it, you have it forever.  It can kill, but mostly doesn't.
I thank God almighty, that Democrats were more normal when I caught chicken pox
and was physically scarred by it as a child.  Today they may have permanently destroyed all American
life because of their fear of a disease that MAY kill an adult that has never had it.
That is what we are doing today, letting Democrats destroy our America, in the name of fear.
I'm old, I'm not afraid of this virus. I'm not afraid to die. I do fear for the freedoms
of my kids and grandchildren..

We were never even really in a full lockdown either. We just couldn’t go to work. I firmly believe this is all because “orange man bad.”

A real lockdown would’ve been like China where they locked their people into their homes and they died of starvation. It’s hilarious to think that “social distancing” and stay at home orders had any effect whatsoever.

I like it. Being one kupuna on fixed income that more than meets my needs, I got an extra $2400 tax free (me and wife), I get to go shopping ahead of those under 60 and my laid off daughter who lives with us is giving me an extra $300 a month above her rent.  Her UI plus the $600 from the Fed per week is making her feel generous.

The issue is, do you really believe when the "test" comes back positive?  You're basically taking the doctors word for it.  How much does a hospital make when treating someone with CV vs. the flu or other like illness?  How much does a hospital get reimbursed if someone goes on a ventilator?

#tinfoil #epsteindiedofCOVID19

But to be fair, Oahu has about 800K people.  And only about 400 were ever infected to date.  So the odds of knowing someone is very low.  Oh wait, Clarence Nishihara caught it.  So most of us should change our answer to yes.  He went to Vegas at end of feb.  Then had the mag limit hearings in early March. Then was diagonzed with CV.

I too am on a pension, fixed income. Not social security, just yet.
I will use the $2400 to pay my federal income tax. My pension is Federal, but
not state taxable.
I'm sure I earned it.
IIRC UI is an insurance that we pay into when we work, even if we
never see it,  it was part of our wages, we didn't get.
The $600 is BS but trying to manage an incremental system with a Federal
oversight, it is probably cheaper to just "Peanut butter it".

Where did you hear about Chinese people dying of starvation?

I work and am in close contact with many Chinese in China and never heard about the Chinese government starving their people due to their shutdown order.

I've heard rumors of this, but never any actual proof or vids.  There are vids of people being ripped from their homes and marched with hands tied in long lines like 10 people long in the streets.

I guess a real question is, do you think you or someone you know had it. They weren't testing people early on and still aren't testing a lot of people, nor were people going to get tested for fear of testing positive. Also, how many homeless, or houseless went and got tested. They run around being constantly sick.

I firmly believe a lot of people have had it but were never tested for it. Myself included in that. I think it ran though my household of 6 (me, wife, 2 kids, her parents) with myself, the wife and her dad all having had it. But with Kaiser not testing unless you meet the defined symptom set of unable to breathe and high fever, you were just noted as having the flu. Call back if the symptoms get worse.

We're very sure the wife had it in January before it became cool to get it as she was almost bedridden and couldn't breathe very well. Her words were that it felt like climbing Mt. Everest just to go upstairs to bed and she could never get enough oxygen in. She's positive she picked it up at the McD in Waikele. Her dad had a hard time also at the same time, but not as bad with breathing. Got lucky with him as he and his wife are both in their 70's. I think I had it in March, but very lightly and still have a random cough. Kaiser says the cough will last 4 - 6 weeks so I'm looking at mid to end of May before it goes away.

The real damage caused by this "disease" will be economically. The real pain hasn't even come yet. That will start showing up in about another month or so when we "reopen" and there is no food to distribute because so much was destroyed and not refreshed in the system. Why plant/grow new just to destroy it again? Waste of time, energy and money.

I guess we will all find out

I know a guy who came back from a trip in January and got sick.
He spread it to his coworkers. His wife never got it.
Everybody recovered ok.

The videos may be real, but without the proper context, one can't make any conclusions.

There is no denying when China decides to shut down, it really means shut down.  For example, many of my close Chinese friends and colleagues confirmed that if a person who lives in an apartment building gets Covid-19, the whole building is quarantined.  Food is provided by the government to all those in the building and employed people will not loose their jobs while at home.  No one is allowed in or allowed to come out.

With that kind of shut down backed by a government committed to stopping the spread of Covid-19, it comes to no surprise as to the total number of infections and deaths they experienced relatively compared to other nations.

Oh I more than worked for it.  Even as far back as 2006 I sent the US Treasury $26k in Fed taxes and tens of thousands more until I sold my business in 2014.  So now they give me back a couple thousand.  So before you criticize somebody for getting what most other people got, think twice.  If you did get a stimulus payment, why don't you return it or give it to charity since you didn't work for it.

What kind of medical care is that?

The nation that brags having the greatest and most advanced medical system in the World and the best BS they can tell you and your obviously virus stricken family in the middle of this pandemic is "Call back if the symptoms get worse?"

You are right that the economic fallout is yet to come, but what happened and where was all the money prior to Covid-19 outbreak that led to Kaiser and the rest of the American medical establishment not being able to do more for your ohana?

I had 2 friends who had flu like symptoms, but way worst in December.  And it took longer than the flu to recover from.  none traveled.  But then again, the mortality rate is 1-2%.

I saw the news.  A HS classmate reported being stuck in that line for like 6 hours!  But he got a LOT of food.  More than his family of 3 needs, so he was sharing with neighbors/friends.

It’s not just about the kupuna - even young healthy adults are dying from this.   The past two fatalities we know any details about in HI are men over the age of 65.  One actually got released and then relapsed and died.  That’s super sad.  I see the same argument whenever a TV station or a newspaper posts about the subject and I’m curious as to what people mean when they say “get back to life”.  What does that mean for you?

You seem to have a lot of stress and internal anger. Did this pandemic cause you severe economic harm?  If so, I feel for you.  Of course you understand I have no control over what our government does. But as a free American who is dissatisfied with the way this country is going, you do have the right to move to another country.

Everyone needs to go back to work, no question about it.  What is frightening is how some people don't care about the number of fatalities will occur due to the community spread it will result.

Was it worth it?  That's a very subjective question.  Some people are making out quite well financially and getting a free vacation on top of it.

If you're asking if the lockdowns and other efforts were worth their being implemented, I refer you to Schrodinger's cat.

We can never know what would have been, because we DID employ extreme measures to stop the spread.  We can't know if the spread was ever going to result in millions dead, but that's precisely what the models indicated.  Yeah, the models have been wrong almost every time, but that's not because the model is inaccurate.  It's because the models don't factor in our reactions that result from the models' predictions.

If I tell you you have a 50% chance of dying within 1 mile of your home, and that 70% of accidental deaths occur inside the home, will that cause you to spend more time away from home?  Will you exercise more attention and care while at home?  Will you drive more cautiously when approaching the 1 mile mark from home?

If the stats make us take action that reduces the probability that the bad thing will happen, then I guess you could argue the stats are wrong now.  But, what if you hadn't heard those stats and never changed one thing about how you go about your days and nights at home?  Would you then be just another statistic?

Hindsight is 20/20.  I'd be a billionaire if I could have played the stock market a year ago knowing what I know now.

Wondering if the virus was here from the very start of the outbreaks?  Waiting for the fast antibody test, I want to see how many people have already had it and recovered.

Well said. Too many people want to take one side or another in a rush to judge but in truth it could take years to fully digest how this all went down and to give somewhat solid answers on what should have been done and what worked.

Heck, there are still varying mortality rate numbers being thrown out, some near that of the flu and others 10x that of the flu. It inevitably boils down to the question of whether we risk the side effects of not doing enough or do a little and hope it doesn't turn out that bad.

I did hear on the new that they had traced back the first covid19 test to all the way back in February, weeks before the previously thought first death. I very much think it was in the USA as of January. I had what I thought was the flu in early February but missing some of the usual symptoms. I would be that I may have already had it.

My daughter and her almost-2-yr-old and the father moved in with me in late December.  In mid-January, MLK weekend to be exact, we held a garage sale to help get rid of the excess stuff they brought.

I saw at least three people wearing surgical masks as they browsed and bought.  I helped two men load up an electric piano which they said was going back to the PI for a church there.

About 2 days later, I developed symptoms.  Fever, deep mucus-producing cough, tightness in the lungs like when the VOG rolls in, a sore throat, runny nose, etc.

Took me about 2 weeks to really get over it.  Went though lots of NyQuil Severe Cold & Flu liquid, Muscinex, cough drops and Kleenex.

Since the COVID virus takes a couple of weeks to present symptoms as far as we've been told, not only was the garage sale too close to the onset, but all 3 of those in my house never complained of a single symptom.

My diagnosis was I had the regular flu or a bad cold.  Most likely I caught it from someone at the 3-day yard sale.

Then again, it could have been something I picked up at Costco or Walmart.  Unless you can pinpoint the moment you came into contact with an infected person, there's really no way to do much more than make a list of possible places you contracted it.

Did I have Covid?

Maybe.

Do I think I had it?

Only an antibody test can MAYBE answer that.  Even if that's positive, it's still just a guess given the details I laid out.
