I'd like to know more about the 6/28/14 HDF range day. What is it? Where is it? How do I go about participating? Sorry but I am new to all of this, and just don't know much yet. Looking forward to becoming more involved with the local shooting community.
hdf range days are held the last saturday of the month at action bay one of the koko head shooting complex (far left side as you enter the range- look for the white storage container)
there is a required 101 class for all newbies (this week it's at 7:30am)
and then an approximately three hour class (this week it's at 8-11)
the class is not meant to be a "tactical" or "high speed" class
it's just an introduction to fundamentals and techniques that you cannot utilize on the public section of the range
we alternate between pistol and rifle (this week it's pistol)
for a pistol class, you need a belt, holster, mag carriers and extra mags
range fee for the class is $20 for HDF members, $30 for non-members (you can sign up on site for membership $25 a year)
class signups open the second saturday of the month at 8 am (spots usually fill quickly, this month we still have openings)
following the class, we have a "free shoot" portion (this month from 11-1)
range fee for the "free shoot" is $10 (waived if you attend the class)
at the "free shoot" portion, as long as it is legal in HI, you can shoot it
we usually shoot at 12-15 yards and people shoot rifle pistol and shotgun
sign up is here
