RBG hospitalized. Next SCOTUS pick?
« on: November 08, 2018, 06:51:38 AM »
Will this lead to her retirement?  Id imagine it'll be hard for her to recover from this at 85 years old and force her into retirement.  A new SCOTUS appointment could seal the deal on CCW/open carry.

I wish RBG a quick and painless recovery. My grandmother fell at about the same age and broke her hip. Her health declined quite fast after that. I personally hope this doesn’t happen to RBG, but don’t be surprised if this turns out to be a life changing incident for her. It will be several months before she will come back to the SCOTUS if she does come back.

Never want to hear about folks getting hurt and suffering.

Sounds like it was thought to be a minor fall.  Something like RBG fell at the office, went home.  Then experienced discomfort at home and then went to the hospital.  Initial report sounded more serious, as if she was rushed to the hospital after falling.

I've had separated ribs in HS and cracked ribs a couple of times.  Both sucked, especially if you have a cold and are sneezing and coughing.

As I've stated on other threads, I prefer Thomas Hardiman, but suspect (and would be relatively satisfied with) the likely female nominee to replace Ginsburg, Amy Coney-Barrett.

At that point, Breyer will have to accept that his side is so far outnumbered already that he would no longer need to postpone his retirement hoping for a Democrat president/senate in the near future, and he'll retire too. Then hopefully Hardiman will take that seat, leaving only Kagan and Sotomajor for the socialists/statists, neither of whom seem particularly healthy. Trump 2020. (I hate to lose Justice Thomas, as he is our staunchest unwavering ally, but he's getting to that point as well...).

She will be back quicker than you would expect.  Old buzzards are hard to kill.  Probably outlive me and I am 17 years younger.

She'll be fine... even if all her original parts have to be replaced...

People concerned about Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s fall are offering their ribs and organs

https://www.kansascity.com/news/nation-world/article221343550.html

People, especially younger people, were offering the octogenarian affectionately known as RBG their own ribs on social media Thursday morning. They even started the hashtag #RibsForRuth on Twitter.

"I love how every person under the age of 30 on Twitter is currently offering #RuthBaderGinsburg their ribs and any other internal organ she might need."

It’s one thing to offer. It’s another when they come calling your bluff. I wonder how many of those less than 30 year olds would actually go through with their offer?

I will be happy to offer my rib bones to her, however. I need to dig them out of the trash first.  :geekdanc:

Even though I would love to see her retire and Trump get another SC nomination, there is no way in hell the DNC would allow her to.

Man. we are raising idiots.

Lets say you wanted to donate a bunch of ribs to someone (ignoring the fact that you need them to breath).  So the doctor cuts off your ribs and gives them to Ruth.  the rib transplant doctor has to cut off her broken rib, attach the donated one somehow the the stub of the remaining broken rib (pins and bolts), the rib then needs to heal the EXACT SAME WAY HER OWN BROKEN RIB WOULD HAVE TO HEAL, now with bolts and screws and some anti-rejection drugs .  And she has to heal a giant surgical incision across her chest.  And doesnt have intercostal muscles hooked back up,  And she has to be on the ventilator the whole time because she had to GET HER CHEST CUT OPEN.

Donating a rib to her would likely kill her if she went through all that non-sense

To me, much of that is an attempt for them to make themselves feel good/better about themselves.  Ask them why, they'll say because they are showing empathy for the person.  To show support.  Sort of like how many folks will say "let me know if you need anything" when someone is experiencing difficulties in life.  Yeah, there are some that truly will come through, but many really say that to sort of show support knowing that most times they won't be called on.

Plus none of them should be there past 70 years of age.  We are still in the dark ages thinking that our elders are the wisest and best to judge when in the dark ages the life expectancy was 30 years of age.

All of them over 65 are going to have cerebral atrophy and microvascular disease affecting cognition and memory at a minimum.

We dont want Pilots who are 85,  we dont want a surgeon who is 85, we dont want 85 year olds in charge of nuclear missile alert buttons.

I think that should go for every politician as well.  But that does not keep us from even electing dead people like Nevada just did.

I cannot wait to see what kinda stunts they use to try and keep ACB from getting the seat

Probably going to be chomo stuff.  Cause no one cares about a male accuser.

If Trump did nothing else in office for 4 years, appointing all the lower court judges he's done plus 2, soon to be 3, Supreme Court Justices was worth every Tweet and made-up scandal.

That is precisely why many of us voted for him: the Supreme Court vulnerability with a democrat.

The rest of his agenda has turned out to be a pleasant gift.

I heard that Trump has appointed more judges to the lower courts than any previous president.  I haven't looked into seeing if that's true.  I do recall looking at the makeup of a few courts, namely the 9th and there were a TON that were appointed by Obama.  So if Trump has exceeded that, then wow!
