General Discussion / Re: New Change in Firearm Paper Work at HPD
« on: December 24, 2015, 06:36:27 PM »
We were at the station today and one of the cops told us starting today, 12/24/2015, they do not require a Dr. note. Call them or go down to verify just in case.

Adding a little more detail.

1. I believe the guy was 2nd in line and then jumped out.
2. Accidentally bumped one of the female workers and then he threw his hands up and yelled loudly SHIT!
3. When he came back he tried to cut in line.
4. A girl told him that he cut in line and didn't appreciate it. She had her kids waiting in the car.
5. He tells her he don't care and could give a shit about her kids.
6. He says his home was broken into and stuff stolen and also his car. It also took cops 45 mins to get to his house. He needs a gun to protect himself.
7. They go back and forth and the girl is now crying.
8. Plain cloth cops pulls him out and tells him he lost his place and must go to the end.
9. Another plain cloth cops talks to him.
10. They argue
11. The guy is now in the back and keeps loud mouthing
12. Other customers are trying to talk to him but he keeps loud mouthing and he told one guy off
13. Officer comes in to talk to him.
14. He tells his story again but adding that two of his family are lawyers and is going to sue them. He is also a civil engineer and is better than everyone there. He also told the cops he got burglarized and they didn't do their job.
15. Officer pulls him outside and another officer comes to assist. They rip it on him.
16. Guy comes back in and goes to the back but at least two more people came in front of him.
17. This went on for at least 1/2 hour. IDK what happened after we left. We have partial on video.

I'm fine with nobody getting killed but having the Officers getting hurt sucks. I also think the system is flawed and he still should have been locked away. At the same time it wouldn't bother me if the guy did get shot. If I was looking for someone to blame it wouldn't be the judicial system, it would be the criminal.

Maybe cause there was a passenger in the car? At the same time, not shooting caused all three officers to get hurt?

General Discussion / Re: Man acquitted of charges in Kona hotel shooting

this wasn't meant to be a debate. Just hypothetical theories of what you think happened? I'm guessing just like you. Unless you are in court most news never gives you all the details. We speculate just like every other news out there.

General Discussion / Man acquitted of charges in Kona hotel shooting

http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/20140905_Man_acquitted_of_charges_in_Kona_hotel_shooting.html

Accused of shooting 28 rounds from a rifle and two handguns in the air in the parking lot at Kona hotel. Judge released him after he was acquitted but must see psychiatric care.

Where do you think the gun control system failed? It doesn't say if these firearms are legal or not. What happened to the background check? What about the 14 day handgun waiting period? Or did the system work until he became insane but the system did not update itself?

Edit: this wasn't meant to be a debate. Just what do you think happened and did the system work or not? I know there is no details but don't you wonder what happened?

Firearms and Accessories / Re: pretty cool..radial & spiral fluting
« on: August 29, 2014, 04:30:13 PM »
Forgive my ignorance but if they are trying to save weight, why don't they just leave off all the radial or spiral fluting? From the looks of it, it doesn't look like it helps with structural integrity. I'm not an engineer so IDK. If you are trying to use it as a heat dissipator I can see the point. Someone chime in and explain how it works. All I know is that this will be a bitch to clean.

Reloading / Buying once fired rifle brass
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:09:24 PM »
I heard in person that I shouldn't buy once fired for my bolt rifle which is a Remington 700. At the time I didn't ask why but I read that when fired, the brass forms in that specific chamber. Wouldn't using a full size resizer die solve that so I can use it in my rifle or would it be more like you can do that but it's not recommended? It's much cheaper to buy it used or get it free from friends.

Federal judge strikes down California gun purchase waiting period in some cases. Basically if you are already a gun owner, passed a background check, and those who have a permit or certificate to own a gun, they don't have to wait the 10 day waiting period. First time buyers have to wait. Can we use this judgement as reference down here to challenge our 14 day waiting period?
