Preparedness and Survival / Satellite phone
« on: August 31, 2017, 10:36:28 PM »
Been thinking more and more about getting a couple of satellite phones to have for emergencies and out of country travel.  Has anyone looked into these?  The prepaid option seems to run about $1 / minute and is good world wide.

I called in to inquire and was informed that the ammo was ordered for the March 2016 gunshow but was late arriving so they were selling it at the gunshow pricing and that it was already sitting at the freight forwarders. I ordered multiple cases of 9mm 124gr. and paid with a CC. My card was charged immediately and I received a text from Paypal with the transaction information.

Long story short, two months later and the ammo still hasn't arrived. I contacted them muttiple times through their Facebook page and Facebook Messenger and was told that the wrong ammo was shipped and a new shipment is being sent. Or orders are being filled in order and that I must've gotten bumped to the back of the list. Finally enough is enough and I requested a refund from Hawaii On Target and was told it was being processed but I haven't received any documentation stating such. I've opened a dispute with my CC company and provided them with all of the info.

Is anyone else going through a similar situation with them?

Off Topic / Hawaiian Telcom TV service
« on: May 26, 2013, 08:16:10 PM »
Is anybody here using the digital tv / internet / phone service through Hawaiian Telcom.  The rep came door to door and said it was now available in our area and had some bundled packages to chose from.  The service is IP based through AT&T U-verse.  It features whole house DVR and each TV will now require a box to access the system.  internet speed of up to 21 Mbps.

I'm thinking of switching but wanted some opinions first.

General Discussion / Kokohead Range - AR-15 stolen
« on: May 24, 2012, 08:51:13 PM »
I recently heard that on Sat, 05/19, an AR-15 was stolen off the shooting bench while the line was cold and shooters were checking their targets.   There were no witnesses, not even the RSO's, and a report was filed with HPD.

Did anyone here hear about this incident?

Federal agent from mainland arrested for killing man in Waikiki

This photo from Linkedin shows Chris Deedy, a foreign service agent for the U.S. Department of State. Deedy was an Industry analyst in the International Price Program at the Bureau of Labor and Statistics for three years and has BA in Economics from Tulane University.
A U.S. State Department law enforcement agent from the mainland was arrested for fatally shooting a man in his 20s early this morning on Kuhio Avenue in Waikiki, sources said.

Honolulu police identified the alleged shooter as Christopher W. Deedy, 27, and sources who asked to remain anonymous confirmed that he is a federal agent who was off-duty at the time of the shooting. The victim was identified by family and friends as Kaneohe resident Kollin K. Elderts, 23, a Kalaheo High School graduate.

A State Department spokeswoman in Washington, D.C., said only, "We are aware of the incident and we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation."

She would not confirm whether he was here for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference which begins Tuesday.

But Deedy's LinkedIn web page identifies him as a special agent working for the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the State Department and from the Washington D.C. area.

According to the State Department's website the bureau is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. President Barack Obama and 20 other world leaders are expected to attend the APEC Leaders' Meeting next weekend.

Police say the shooting happened in front of the McDonald's restaurant on Kuhio Avenue between Royal Hawaiian and Seaside avenues just before 3 a.m. The victim is 23, and is a Hawaii resident, police said.

Deedy was identified and arrested a short distance away at 2234 Kuhio Ave. at 3 a.m. He was being held pending a second-degree murder charge, according to police.

Police said initial indications are that the suspect and the victim, a man in his 20s believed to be a Hawaii resident, did not know each other. The victim's identity has not yet been released.

Police said four males got into a confrontation and the victim sustained a single gunshot wound. Paramedics took him in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.

Deedy had not been charged as of this afternoon.

His LinkedIn page says he is graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans who worked as an economist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics before joining the State Department in June 2009.
