I think Maksak had the right idea all along in not bothering to own any guns, ammo or magazines.

I was looking on YouTube and some guys are absolutely deadly and accurate using slingshots like David did against Goliath.

Living in Puna, lots of free rocks.  Imagine an 8 oz rock coming at you at 90 mph.

I agree.  But we need a level playing field.  Our rocks will still be no match for the criminals and LE with guns and their friends (the politicians) are making no effort to address that.

Is it time to say, like King Leonidas said in "300" :  COME AND TAKE THEM.

or would it be better to say "I own no firearms, ammo, or magazines"........  ;) ;) ;)

Our Canadian neighbors really love to go to Vegas.  This even if their Canadian dollar costs more to convert to U.S.

I used to frequent this Vegas site called Vegas Message Board.  It's a site where you can talk about anything Vegas, from gambling to dining, to shows, etc.

Lots of Canadian members there.  They love to talk to other people who love to go to Vegas.

I don't visit the site anymore, but wonder if current events are affecting them.

The baby steps will continue.  10 rnd. mags next.  Then lever action.  Then 5 rnd. mags next.  Then bolt action.

Then pellet guns.  bb guns.  suction cup dart guns.  nerf guns.  guns that blow bubbles.  (my grandsons will be livid....)

Not sure about paint ball.  heard the politician asshats like to play with those.......

You actually cannot shoot it at the range because no range is a licensed shooting range.  They get a permit to build, but no license is issued.

So no one can shoot their semi auto rifle eff 1/1/26.

Also, there is no exception for the film industry, so any movie that uses a semi auto rifle won't be allowed, including built to use blanks.

Yeah, "EFF" 1/1/26. :grrr:

Might as well say bye to KHSC.  It's days are numbered.

Maybe they will call KHSC the LE and Criminals of Hawaii Shooting Facility.

They are the only ones that will have guns in the civilian sector.

Backdoor activities, just like making doo doo, stinks to high heaven.

Either our political leaders are too stupid to understand Flapp's post on CDC's stats, or they just are ignoring the facts to push their agenda.

I mean, we all know they are stupid, but in this case they are ignoring the facts.

National Scream Day

Too bad there's not a "National Cry me a River" Day.

It would be appropriate after National Scream Day.

You know, therapy for all those blue-haired confused gender identity mental cases out there.

General Discussion / Re: Silhouette side
« on: April 24, 2025, 09:26:50 AM »
if anyone would like to attend the silhouette meeting, it is this sunday at 1100 at the silhouette range. I'm sure they can use all the help they can get
I think they are going to elect officers and go over what the plan is to re-open

I hope something positive comes out at this meeting.

The KHSC complex is such a great facility.  Or it can be so.  Too bad the powers that be do not share the same sentiment.

yes. Well deserved. We voted for dumb people we get dumb laws.

Soon, very soon these dumb people who voted for the dumb people who drafted these dumb laws will see the error of their ways.

Soon.  Very soon.

I'll be right there, right in their faces.  Telling them go. Go cry me a river.

Political Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Trump's Tariffs Thread
« on: April 23, 2025, 06:57:32 AM »
What a wonderful Republic we live in.  We vote on people who tell us their vision and what they would do if elected.  We vote and elect those who reflect those values and vision we would like to see the country head into.

I would imagine trust and faith would factor in when casting that vote.

And yes, in this particular instance, blind support for what Trump is doing is going to happen.  The poll of this thread shows this.  Most people don't know jack sh*t about tariffs and how they work in the overall picture of complex world trade.

But Trump is leading like a leader does and doing what a leader says he'll do.  Those who hate will hate and those who will be affected by this issue will complain, bitch, and moan.

I say let this thing play out.  Support the POTUS.  Geeesh.  It hasn't even been 100 days in the administration and people are bitching, moaning, or questioning his moves.

I"ve always been with the school of thought that Hawaii should have never banked solely on the Tourism industry.

Of course my thoughts are skewed from the fact that I am retired and the events happening today would not affect my job since I don't have one.

I can certainly understand others not sharing the same view as mine.

No. It's behind closed doors and not broadcast.

I get why people try to "get their monies" worth at a buffet.  But I tried this once and didn't enjoy the buffet.  Not only was I thinking about money and ruining enjoying the food, but I overate and felt like shit after. So to feel stuffed on vacay when you still got a lot of things to do sucks.  So for years now, I eat what I want, even I "lose money".  I've been enjoying the buffets much more and don't feel like shit after.

For the Palms lobster buffet above, I only had 1 lobster tail as I'm not a huge fan of lobster, but wanted to try theirs.  I also took 1 snow crab claw at Baccahnal and 1 bite. I didn't like it. I wanted to try it without having to order it from a regular menu and spend lots.

We're going to Vegas soon and checking out Border Grill in Mandalay Bay.  It's a made to order all you can eat.  I want to try Chile Quiles (sp?) for the 1st time as I would never spend my own money to order it.  This AYCE has been around precovid, so I'm glad to see they're still doing it.

Bubble craps machines are appearing more and more at casinos.  Even the airport has it (not Terminal 3 yet, the Hawaiian Air terminal area). And crapless craps also.

Agree that stuffing yourself just so you can "get your money's worth" only ends up in most people feeling miserable after.  For me, getting my money's worth is the ability to try different types of foods sort of like a sampling menu that some restaurants offer.  Fill up by trying small samples of a variety of foods.

I wish some buffets would offer some cuisine from India.  I never tried Indian food but would like to try it.  If I try a sample and don't like it at least I didn't waste food.

I tried bubble craps before but it was sorta meh.  But I think I'd like to give it another try.  There are some interesting strategies on Yoo Boob that would piss off the dealers and players at a regular craps table but would be perfectly fine with bubble craps.

An interesting thing about bubble craps is the dice have "monopoly" type shapes.  Their edges are rounded out, not like the sharp edges of regular craps dice.  I often wondered why this is so and the paranoid conspiracy theorist in me suspects the AI of the machine can sense what the dice will land on as the pad vibrates.  While the sharp edges of regular casino dice guarantees a random roll, maybe the rounded edges of the bubble craps dice make the outcome more predictable.

Of course that's just my opinion.  Many times after I hit a big win I seven out immediately after.

It's not always each person getting more than they themselves can eat.  Sometimes it's everyone loading up the table for all to share even though not everyone wants to gorge themselves on crab legs or lobster.

My BIL would always do this in the past.  Then get mad at us for not helping him eat all of it.  We told him countless times to stop doing that because we like to take our own food.  Not to mention none of us ever told him to do that.  He meant well but after telling him a few times you would think he would get it.

Now he tells us he doesn't care to do buffets anymore.  I tell him "ok, bye. see you later."

I don't like it when people waste food also.  I make an effort when at buffets to sample first and if I like it then I will go back for more.  I also don't subscribe to the "eat my money's worth" at buffets.  I like buffets for the variety, especially when they touch on foods I don't normally eat.  They might not be as great as if you were to go to a restaurant but at least I get some idea of that type of food.

24 hr. Cafes, Graveyard specials, and buffets are what I enjoy about Vegas.

Sadly I think those 3 will disappear for all the reasons you brought up, Flapp.

I remember watching a documentary type program highlighting how the Vegas pig farmers gather the food from the resorts then process them at their farm, getting it ready to feed the pigs.  I remember them showing stuff like forks, plastics, and other foreign materials that needed to be carefully screened out from the food.

As far as waste I remember one family I saw at the buffet with huge plates of food leftover.  I would say more than 50% of the food they took were not touched and these were items like crab legs and prime rib.  My heart sank when I saw this.  As much as I enjoy watching people enjoy their food I don't like to see waste.

And the YT Influencers, agree that some of them are wasting food.  One of those YT vloggers took 8 whole lobsters to do his video.  I commented on his channel if he ate all 8 of those lobsters besides all the other foods he took.  I told him not to be wasteful and scolded him that him and people like him are the reason buffets are going away and prices are going up.

He usually leaves a Heart emojii after people's comments but he never leaves one for me.

So much Chinese themed slot machines in almost every casino, whether they cater to the Asian demographic or not.

Never been to RW, and don't feel I'm missing anything.

If the Downtown properties are smart, they shouldn't mirror what the Strip is doing.

And Plaza and El Cortez should open a mid-tier Buffet.

And Golden Nugget should re-open their Buffet, make it a premium Buffet.

My opinion, of course.

Getting ready for May the Fourth ...

Fun video!  Thanks for sharing.

It brought back memories of my first impression of the very first Star Wars movie.  I saw it at the old Cinerama theatre and because the place was packed I think we were seated in the 2nd row.

I was blown away by the opening scene, the acoustical, and everything after that.

Much ado about nothing.

Making a mountain out of a mole hill.

If you know who you are and have the proper documentation, you have nothing to worry about.

Of course nothing is perfect, there are corrupt people in LE and Justice Departments, but hey, welcome to the real world.

People will highlight the wrongful arrest part and downplay the justice system playing out part.

BECAUSE SH*T HAPPENS AND WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN.
