I have not been watching the hearings. I have been hearing that they have not been that contentious. There is not a whole lot the Dems can complain about with her. That’s why they are going after how she sounds. What else do they have?

The dems spent 90% of their time in the committee hearing campaigning for the ACA, abortion and against Trump.  The remainder was arguing against the "sham" confirmation, and trying unsuccessfully to use her past words to trip her up on issue positions.

She ran rings around the likes of Durbin, Feinstein and Klobuchar.

Democrats in the Senate showed how low they can go.  Total assholes, if you must know!

Not a single Democrat Senator showed up to today's Judicial Committee hearing in an obvious, yet ineffective, attempt to block Judge Amy Coney Barrett's committee vote.  The rules require a minimum of 2 members from each party (only 2 parties represented in the committee).  The Dems completely boycotted the hearing.

Sen Lindsey Graham, Judicial Committee Chair, held a vote to change the rules and bypass the 2-members-per-party rule.

Super easy.  Barely an inconvenience!

The motion to move her nomination forward out of committee and to the full Senate for a confirmation vote was passed 12-0.

Quote
It took only 12 minutes after the committee gaveled into session in a cavernous Senate
hearing room — with senators and staff seated far apart as a precaution against the
spread of the coronavirus — to complete the vote.

Republicans dismissed the Democrats’ boycott as a childish stunt.

“This is all for show,” said Senator John Cornyn, Republican of Texas. “This is to try to
capture a narrative which is simply false and to cover up what they are really about.”
...
Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader, has indicated
that after the committee’s action, the full Senate would proceed on Friday to bring up
Judge Barrett’s nomination, with a final vote on Monday.

I'd vote her a pay raise if she'd stay home in quarantine until the end of her current term.

The Democrats have been playing those same games and taking advantage of the milk toast Republicans who didn’t fight back. This has been going on for over 40 years that I can remember. Now it seems the Republicans are growing some balls and taking it to the Democrats who are now crying like little babies. McConnell did well and did the right thing IMHO. Karma is a bitch, Schumer.

Yep.  Right after I was old enough to vote (registered in HS), I started learning about the political landscape.  Didn't take long for me to see one important truth:

The Republicans were the Adults.

The Democrats were the spoiled brats.

When I saw what the Dems were doing under Reagan after what THEIR presidential pick did to the country, it made me sick.

Reagan had a plan and a history in CA of doing exactly what the nation needed.  The Dems wanted more social program spending in exchange for the tax cuts Reagan needed.  In an effort to compromise, he agreed.  The problem is, Democrats are like Popeye's Blimpy character.  They promise tax cuts down the road in exchange for more spending today.  Of course, the tax cuts never seemed to come -- different year, different budget.

Dems always seemed to get what they wanted immediately, and Republicans would never get what was promised.  It happened over and over.  I was thinking how this is no different than Lucy telling Charlie Brown, "I'll hold the ball, and you run and kick it!"  The GOP, just like Charlie Brown, never learned.

I like the analogy with Lucy and Charlie Brown. I am a Peanuts (Especially Snoopy) fan. I just wonder if you made that overly simplistic analogy for a certain millennial with an overly simplistic mind?

Reagan was a great Governor. I was born and raised in SoCal and he was a generally happy person with an infectious personality. He was also one of the greatest speakers in my lifetime. California prospered under Regan. Not just because he was a great governor and orator. But because his happiness and his love affair with his wife was the story of the century. It truly was a great time for CA. He made an even greater President. It was an honor (In my opinion) to be able to vote for him.

If Trump did nothing else, he at least kept Hildabeast from putting Activist Liberal Judges on the Supreme Court.  That would take generations to fix.

I prefer to look at this as putting judges in the court that do their jobs correctly and interpret the constitution the way it is supposed to be. Compared to putting judges in the court that have a specific liberal agenda that rules by their feelings rather than the law. In effect making up their own laws.

Technically speaking if all judges did their job the way it is intended to be, it would not matter one’s political affiliation. They would all rule mostly in sync and not along party lines. There would be occasional dissension but nothing as so radically divided as it currently is. I blame the Democrats/Progressives for trying to change the face of the SCOTUS and the other courts. If we lose SCOTUS to the Democrats/Progressives (ie those with a political agenda) then we lose the country to Socialism. JMHO

I was reading a headline on the fake news and it said "say goodbye to healthcare coverage".  Didn't Biden even say he wants to replace Barry care with Biden care?

Been seeing a lot of political ads focusing on heathcare coverage.  Sure tugs at the heartstrings.  Admittedly, I'm ignorant on the issues as I haven't seen a difference in my healthcare and coverage in the last many years.

What did Biden say?  I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember either. . .  ;D

Lots of ads today about BidenCare.  Supposedly, Biden wants to take ObamaCare and expand on it.

He said he will replace Barry care with "Biden Care".  Which to me implies that the current plan sucks.

For me b4 Barry care, I was paying with Kaiser $121 a month and it was the most expensive policy to choose from.  Once it passed, my premium went up to $232 a month the first year.  Then to $408 the next.  I also lost my plan that first year and had to select another one.  I've had other friends who had family plans paying $600 a month for husband/wife/1 child.  Their premium went up in 1 year to $1600 a month.

So "you can keep your plan" was BS. "Your premiums wont increase" was also BS.  I do understand like 10% for inflation, but double then double again, no that's not inflation.  You also had people like Jimmy Kimmel cry on his show that thanks to Barry Care, his son can get the heart treatment that he needed.  You mean someone like Jimmy, can't pay cash for the procedure?  Instead now peoples premiums raise more due to the carrier having to pay for this surgery that he's using his medical insurance for.

IIRC, the HI health connector site that cost $1,000,000 to set up, that didn't work correctly and had a bunch of carriers listed on it as options.  Shortly later, HMSA left and the only carrier on it was Kaiser.
