General Discussion / Re: Lost a Customer Forever
« on: April 20, 2025, 04:23:29 PM »
This has been very disappointing for me - A week ago I spent about $837.00 at the J. Hara Store in Kaimuki ...

Part of the purchase was a $160.00 OTF knife which I paid the full price.  I did ask - Who I thought was the Owner - Or Boss - I missed the Gun Show - Can you give me a better deal?  He said no ... OK

So, the next week - That OTF knife that I purchased went On Sale for $90.00.  I came back to the store and asked:  Hey, do you have price protection?  I spent $837.00 last week - And now the OTF knife that I purchased is $70.00 less from last week.  I then got some weird runaround - And I think, who was the boss went around the corner - And then a younger employee told me - Sorry, we can't give you refund for the $70.00 difference.

Pretty much most every store that I know of offers some kind of price protection for 30 days.  BTW, I've also purchased a good amount of merchandise in the past from J. Hara - At least $1,000.00 here and there.

Anyway - Not a good feeling - And bad business IMHO.  I will never do business with this store again.  Maybe I shouldn't feel this way - But in this day and age - That kind of Pettiness, just doesn't seem right ...

That knife was on sale for the big island store, not the Oahu store. How do you expect to get the sale price from a different store with a different sale ad. Everyone else on Oahu would be paying the regular price too.

His post said he doesn’t know if there’s a limit for applying. Seems like it’s still 1 per permit.

Firearms international posted still 1 per permit.

First, make sure your buying and selling activity doesn't rise to the level of being a dealer.  What is that level over a period of time?  The ATF is trying to redefine that that so almost anyone buying and selling their own personal firearms qualify.  At a minimum, the firearms you intend to acquire should qualify as C&R and retained as part of your personal collection.  Buying and selling your C&R guns too frequently or too quickly after purchase could raise a flag.

From my understanding a 03 FFL doesn’t allow you to sell (be a dealer in a business sense). It’s for collectors so you can get as much as you want.  If you want to buy and sell its a whole different FFL you need.

I am.  They call it a “magazine… for many-large format pistols.”  Can you name a pistol, large format or otherwise,  it will fit into?

Large format pistol is a pcc or ar pistol type. Full size pistol is like a g17.
This drum fits rifles like the ruger pcc. It won’t fit formats that take full size mags like a sub2000 or vector.

I did overhear them tell one guy who was asking about renewing his long-gun permit, that the new one will only be good through December this year, yeah, new rules effective Jan 1st, 2024.  My Hunter's Ed card is over 20 yrs old, shucks.  ... End of an era.   :(

Asked about this today when I went. The guy at the PTA window told me it’s still good for one year when you renew. Not the end of the year.

I buy stuff locally from different places and the mag is missing when I open the box at home. Don’t know why but it always happens. Just call them and ask for it.

For electric guns, how long is your informational briefing and how much is it?

Just pay for the taser online, schedule pick up and did the briefing and background check. In and out in 15-20 mins.

Your suppose to get a copy of the signed and dated certification for the briefing after it’s done. Can’t remember the exact wording but it would prove you got “training”.  Hopefully that’s enough proof that you did it once before.

Thinking about bringing in a shotgun from Buds Gun shop. Warren Oshiro no longer offers his services and Mr. Hamasaki is listed as a Buds preferred dealer. I called and left him a message to make sure it’s ok with him before I order. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks! :shaka:

I usually send a email. Posted they at shot show this week so may not reply right away.

If you just want to bump tool then a gun is good. A rake does the job too.

Lishi tool is the best to me.  Only downside is expensive and brand specific.

Amazon sells lishi tools.  Covert instruments is good quality stuff too.

do you have a suggestion which lock picking gun and where to purchase?

OGC posted 9mm Blazer 115gr.  They selling $30/bx 50 round.  Look like they had plenty.  But I bet it might sell fast
Sold out by 3:50

I think they only had Monday, Wednesday and Friday appointments available. I needed one to renew my permit for late aug/early sept and had a hard time getting one.  Would make sense now cause I was checking days that never had any.  If anyone can confirm they have a tues/thurs appointment.

Prob shipping cost going up.  Fuel prices affect everything too.  Everyone trying to make money.
