Saw no mention of the fact that a minority of a miniority is causing most of the violent crime in the US.

Wait for it, it also causes global warming, or something.

Political Discussion / We finally shot down one of the ChiCom spy balloons

When will the ChiCom fluffer come along to condemn the US empire for defending our country from commie spying?

Of course, Bidet* allowed it to travel across the entire mainland first.

Had the itch to build a rifle for here in Arizona.

Went to a local shop that had Aero Precision lowers.  Gave them my AZ ID and CCW.  After the 4473 , a xerox of the CCW, was out in less than half an hour.

What a righteous experience after all the totalitarian "may I please" hawaii bullshit.

Y'all go to LV probably have the same.   What a difference to be in a free state.

Drive around with my Glock in the console vault if I do not want to be bothered by the weight.   That seems so innocent and sensible, to have firearms in the vehicle

That is so abhorrent to the liberal hive mentality of hawaii.  Surprising they allow lug wrenches to be carried in the car, who know what those things might do?

California liberals are forcing 70,000 big rigs to stop working in Calif.  That affects getting stuff to and from the ports.

Occurred to me having some electronic muffs at hand at night both for protection if shooting went on, to aiding my destroyed hearing for faint sounds.

Would be nice if they turned on when picked up and shut down later to save battery power.

Anyone heard of such a thing?  Red dots can be had with that tech.

I am not a chronic utube watcher, so this is likely one of a bazillion of those things.
You guys that are all about pistols and CCW probably know all this.
I did not, not being a pistol guy (rifle) but have passing interest in the subject.
The opinions were very interesting to consider, but he does point out the huge influence of peer pressure.

Anyway, FWIW if you have not seen it:

Firearms and Accessories / Any experiences with a Springfield XD-E .45?
« on: October 21, 2022, 05:14:48 PM »
may have asked this, and the search does not work.  Might be interested in a somewhat lighter and thinner .45 ACP CCW than my Glock 30.

The XD-E in .45 interests me with the DA/SA modes.  Similar to my old HK USP in operation which I liked the flexibility.  Still dislike striker triggers.

Now discontinued.  Striker mania moslty?

Anyone handled one and have an opinion?  Any flavor of XD-E would be good.

Apologies if asked before, search sucketh.

Off Topic / Anyone had an umilical hernia repaired? Experiences?
« on: October 12, 2022, 04:51:20 PM »
About a year ago, started to notice tenderness and some weird swelling around the belly button.  Time went by and a little research indicated it was an unbilical hernia.

My Internets Rx was correct, and Kaiser is going to fix it.  They try to make it sound like no big deal, but they put you out to do the slice and dice.

Anyone had it done that can share how it went/

General Discussion / CCW on my last visit to Arizona
« on: September 28, 2022, 06:09:38 PM »
Did not need it, but got an Arizona CCW.

Last visit, got a DTOM medium fanny pack to try out CCW there.  Gun is a chunky, heavy little Glock 30.

I used the smaller pockets for cell phone, wallet and car keys.  The not insignificant weight of the Glock was not an issue, even when wearing loose elastic waist shorts as I do in Hawaii.
Slid it around to my left side, which made buckling that seat belt  simple.  Only notice the heft when first putting it on.

Yeah, it is a bit of a PITA to gear up, but once on is not a big deal.  Wife never noticed it, maybe got stink eye from one older women, but who knows why.

Being an olde farte, a fanny pack is not strange I guess.

Never tried out the IWB holster I got, just do not like wearing shorts/jeans with a belt in the heat.

Am wondering if my desire to stick with .45 ACP condemns me to heavy sidearms.  Going 9 mm now would be expensive.

General Discussion / Anyone heard anything about the SB3298 BI range group?
« on: September 27, 2022, 11:12:49 AM »
I know this is Hawaii, but curious if there has been any word on the group supposed to be formed to get the planning rolling.

I fully expect the same cluster-f*ck as the last range that was planned out and then derailed by Honolulu and the big resorts.

Firearms and Accessories / Gun safe lock issues
« on: September 23, 2022, 02:45:21 PM »
Have a less than a year old Libery safe with mech tumble lock.

Lock had been working fine for months.  Then Sat, it refused to unlock.   Did some tapping with a rubber mallet at points the tuber's said to
It finally "caught" and unlocked.  Took the toys out just in case.  Of course, with the door now open, spin the tumbler and it is back to no unlock.

Had stuff out but unsecured, so spent a few days until Liberty could get a new lock to the shop I bought the safe at.
Tech finally comes out, declares the wheel for the last number had slipped a couple!!  Theoretically, if I had tried up and down a couple numbers for 3rd, would have opened.
Brand new safe and lock?  New lock in (not sure just how new it was, parts loose in styro peanuts) and it works again.

All this time, was convinced mech tumblers were the fail-safe but slow way to go.  No EMP worries, etc.  What a wake up call.

Lesson:  If any of your mech lock numbers start being "touchy" might get a safe or locksmith to check out if all the wheels are in line and not starting to slip.

I am starting to think about getting a Securam Prologic that is supposed to be hardened against EMP.

Off Topic / Hawaiian Electric "Advanced" meters
« on: August 30, 2022, 02:26:10 PM »
Got a blurb in the mail about Hawaiian Elec wanting to change out our meter to this new wireless thing.

We got a new meter years ago when we put up a PV system.  Of course the blurb and online stuff is all peaches and cream.

Being a distrustful sort, with wireless control, I see remote shutoffs/power limiting and other big gov chicanery.

Anyone have had these meters put in and know anything about them?

Political Discussion / Having fun when older?
« on: August 13, 2022, 09:10:41 AM »
My wife and I went into town and visited a shop. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and I said, "Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?"
He just ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him an "a**hole."
He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn-out tires. So my wife called him a "s*ithead."
He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.
Then he started writing more tickets. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
He finally finished, sneered at us and walked away. Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it and went home.
We always look for cars with Biden stickers. We try to have a little fun each day now that we're retired. It's so important at our age!!
