Off Topic / Cutting the cable, mostly
« on: April 10, 2021, 01:21:54 PM »
I only watch a DVD now and then, virtually no cable stuff.  TW/Spectrum is full of garbage of course.

Wife is pissed at the $120 or so a month and called them to cancel.  She is the prime TV watcher and has a Roku now.

Seems they now have a "sort of" ala carte option, $35/mo and four chosen channels.  Give up the DVR in the cable box, had not used that since the NFL when liberal
Wife chose PBS and some other stuff, like Fx in case they do something good again like Deadwood or Justified.

Anyone tried this new(er) arrangement?  I am suspicious they will sneak in more add-on costs.
Political Discussion / Bidet* steps on his crank yet again

What a technical wizard he is...

President Joe Biden has caused confusion after predicting some commercial airplanes could fly at speeds of up to 21,000 miles per hour in the next 10 years, faster than the hypersonic weapons under development by the military.  And faster than the speed needed for earth orbit insertion.

And those that voted for this moron wonder why they are reviled.
Same ones that kept calling Bush stupid.
Political Discussion / Stair climbing contest (Babylon Bee)
« on: March 20, 2021, 11:31:46 AM »
MOSCOW—Vladimir Putin has challenged Joe Biden to a contest of wits, strength, and cunning: a stair-ascending contest. The winner of the contest will gain control of the other country.

"Stair-ascending contest, me and you, right now, let's go," said Putin as he met with the American president. "He who wins become supreme glorious leader forever of other puny weak man." Biden agreed to the contest, though it wasn't clear he knew who this man was or where they were.

"3... 2... 1... climb!" shouted the referee before firing off a pistol. Biden got off to a rocky start as he was startled by the gunshot and scurried off in the wrong direction. Putin, meanwhile, just walked up the stairs. Biden started gaining on him as his handlers corralled him and pointed him in the right direction, but he kept falling over and tumbling down the stairs.

It all looked good for Russia until Putin had to stop a few times to sign execution papers for journalists who criticized him, squandering his lead.

Finally, Biden jumped in a stair lift and started to close the gap, but it was too little, too late, and Putin emerged at the top of the 30-step staircase victorious.

Well, thanks to Biden losing the stair contest, we are now part of Russia. We also just want to say that Vladimir Putin is one fine fellow and a fantastic man, and he deserved to win and we welcome him as our new leader for life.
Firearms and Accessories / Magpul magazine cover clips
« on: March 14, 2021, 11:54:18 AM »
Does anyone use those little pop on clips?
PITA to get on and off.  Suppose they are to protect loaded rounds if the magazine is dropped.  They just seem to get in the way most of the time.
Legal and Activism / HB534 Good to go?
« on: February 20, 2021, 10:59:10 AM »
Got an email this morning fro HIFICO about HB534

I know there was some discussion about bogus wording, has this been corrected and it is it clear to support now?

Acquitted, let the liberal screeching start.

The usual republicunts voted against him, of course.
Firearms and Accessories / Weird copper fouling on new barrel
« on: February 06, 2021, 10:50:32 AM »
A while back, bought a Palmetto State 5.56mm upper as a hedge against PIAPS election.  False alarm, but never got around to assembling the thing during the ammo debacle.

Decided to give it a through going over before long term storage.  Had one of those Amazon borescopes, so decided to check the un-fired (I thought) stainless barrel

Shocked to find several inches of barrel ahead of the chamber with very noticeable copper fouling.  I suppose PSA test fires completed uppers, but enough to visibly copper foul the rifling?

Anyone seen this?  Wondering if the barrel they used was a return or something.

Local shop does not carry any sort of copper solvent, so trying to remove it with Hoppes and a ton of scrubbing.
General Discussion / Ammo on airline routine?
« on: January 11, 2021, 04:56:28 PM »
May be taking some ammo to a new house on the mainland.  11 pounds maximum, in hard or original containers as I recall.

Do they open your checked bags and weigh it and check for packaging?  Do you announce it at bag check-in?
BREAKING REPORT: HIDDEN in the 5,893 page bill that @realDonaldTrump is anticipated to VETO is a provision that says: "Nullifies the President's use of the Insurrection Act."

Just passing along, though trying to hide crap in an enormous mess is a typical ploy.
Firearms and Accessories / 1911 Slide work sources?
« on: December 01, 2020, 03:09:20 PM »
Have some slide work I have wanted done for years now   My old 1911 in in satin nickel and i would like it redone in a dark finish.

Also want the ejection port flared, Bomar type sights installed, and a dovetail front sight machined in.

Anyone in Hawaii do good work?   The couple places i contacted on the mainland only do complete guns these days.  If nont on the BI, I have to ship it, so location is not a big deal.
Not going to burn up ammo I cannot easily and affordably replace, may need it depending on what sort of crap they try to pull on us.

My airguns will keep me current with most firearm skills.

Meanwhile, in Hawaii, you must wait months.....................Lucky we do not have antifarts running around.
Political Discussion / Joe Biden brags about ...... VOTER FRAUD
« on: October 24, 2020, 12:41:00 PM »
Joe Biden brags about having “the most extensive and inclusive VOTER FRAUD organization in the history of American politics”

Of course, the iFag and google corps will say he "mis-spoke"
This morning around 0900, i saw a large gathering of boats just west of Kailua Kona bay.   Well over a dozen.

Got my spotting scope out, and could clearly see a lot of American and Trump flags mounted on masts and outriggers.   A bit later they had cruised into the bay for a boat parade I assume.

Coincidentally, I had seen some liberals a day or so ago announcing an anti-Trump flag waving to be done this afternoon at the entrance to Honokohou.  harbor.  Note is was not billed as a "pro-Biden" event, but an anti-orange man thing.

No idea how many liberals showed up for "orange man bad", but it will be interesting to see how the local leftist rag, West Hawaii Today, reports on this, if at all.

Local crap, but WHT went overboard hyping the march of the massive womyns waddle in Jan 2017.
No surprise that he lied about most everything.
Good info for crap he might try to claim again.

GG&G warns that some uptight liberal states have butthurt over things like this.  Anyone know?  Figure it falls in with fake grenades.
A judge knocked down the Calif law requiring background checks to buy ammunition, and banning importation of ammo from other states.

May slow down liberals here wanting to do the same thing here?

You mean liberals do not believe in it as a cult?
General Discussion / Gun threat cancels Kealakehe High homecoming dance
« on: September 28, 2019, 05:51:23 PM »
Being exceedingly cynical and distrustful of leftists, I smell a false flag to get the anti-2A drums beating.

This in not a ghetto where that sort of thing may happen, but the Big island.

It is a democrat, of course.  But, but, but, leftists insist there is no vote fraud.

You know damn well this POS was one of many, just the accidentally visible tip of the iceberg.
