Check with Ace Metal Recycling on Auiki street or Schnitzer Steel in Kapolei.  I've taken cut up shells and flatbeds to both before.  It's been about 2 years since I've scrapped anything though and I've heard with scrap prices down that some materials they will charge to drop off now.  Both were a bit strict about gas, oil, and other fluids being drained, and gas tanks punctured before you get there to confirm they're empty.  So if you can cut it up and get to either spot good to confirm their requirements and if they're accepting that type of material before you go.

I coordinated my cancel along with the person picking up the appointment.  In my experience it was about 10 seconds from the cancel till the appointment showed up on the site for the person to grab.  If someone else is watching at the same time there's the chance they'll miss picking up the appointment but the two times I've done it has been alright.

I think if they had extended the privilege it would have benefited MWR programs with increased revenue.  Before I aged out as a dependent and while I've been overseas I've had access.  For me it'd be a convenience and another source to buy from but would not be my primary shopping choice.  To me only some things are priced well and competitively.  I would still buy things off base and online.

I'd be curious to know what the privilege abuse numbers are if they even track that.  While I was dependent I saw cigarette and alcohol limits implemented because it was obvious from the amounts being purchased it was not for personal consumption or even party quantities.

I'm all for common sense caliber and powder weight limits for aerials.  Fully automatic high capacity cake fireworks and artillery shells are not the tradition that the ancestors intended.

That's another peeve of mine.  A while ago I got this letter in the mail from a real estate agent I've never known or heard of.

Inside the letter was a google photo of a birds eye view of my house and property and he wants to buy it.

You can request your property be blurred on google maps, I have neighbors that have done it.  Took a week or so they said but once they submitted the request it was completed.

As long as the gravy is good I don't really have a favorite loco moco.  Fried rice is like bacon it makes anything better.

I've been liking the variations people are doing.  Pancake and Waffles Aiea does a prime rib moco and Diner's Kalihi's Bradduh moco with corned beef instead of hamburger are both great.

It's just an unplanned donation to those less fortunate.  Go greet them at the door and help them select what will improve their lives.

It's a one sided article that does nothing to highlight the fact that it's nearly impossible to obtain a permit or registration appointment unless you have time to repeatedly hammer the HPD website at certain times of the day

General Discussion / Re: Moving Safe Upstairs
« on: June 09, 2020, 06:45:41 PM »
My friend's interior stairs are carpeted.  We used ratchet straps and 2x4s to make skis for the safe and slid the safe up the stairs with 4 people.  The two guys above the safe didn't seem like they were doing much work other then steering and making sure we didn't catch the straps on the edge of the stairs.  The other 2 stupid guys (me) were pushing from the bottom and felt like we did most of the work.  It was a Liberty and he said it was around 400 lbs.  It wasn't bad overall and didn't seem like we'd ever lose it.  I think it being a long straight staircase helped.  Having to turn a corner on a landing would have been harder I think.  I wish we'd have looked if the door came off.  That would have made it a lot easier.

Online sign ups for 6/14 (furthest out I see on the site) are closed and the appointment window was 6/3 at 12:00 pm until 6/4 at 11:59 pm.  Will we have to make appointments over a week ahead of time?  And once the appointment window closes that slot goes unused unless someone is waiting at the range on the chance there will be an available bench?

I also was thinking, (which is pretty dangerous btw...…)

Besides range targets,

1)  They would make good pet toys for cats and dogs to play with.

2) They can replace the old tired badminton balls with a ball like this.

3)  Maybe a Covid-19 pillow?

4)  Maybe they can replace the old Bozo the clown red nose with a nose like this.  I'd like to buy several thousand of these to send as gifts to certain political leaders and such.

#4 has a lot of sales and profit potential imho.  ;)

I hope the range is really going to be open.  Archery ranges will be good too.  Hopefully between the two I can get some line time to change up the monotony lately.

I can't find a news article with more details about this part of the investigation but on HNN Sunrise Steve Uyehara just said one of the people in the truck was detained on an ammunition charge.  What could that charge be?  Are there transport rules for ammunition?  Or felon in possession of ammunition is prohibited?

I've never really thought about driving with just ammunition.  I've gotten a ziploc bag of extra from friends and just driven home with the bag on the front passenger seat.  Bought boxes of stuff before and same just drove home with it in a plastic bag on the seat.  Sold some before and took it to work, left it in my trunk, then drove to meet the buyer.

He reports his phone and laptop stolen but not his glock?  It's so out there now I wouldn't be surprised if they all walk because no one could ever even make this stuff up if true.

Woo, did not report the Glock stolen, so police are now working to find out how it ended up in the hands of a convicted felon in a suspected drug house?

In July, the FBI ordered Woo to bring his cell phone and laptop computer for examination after Ebersole told the feds that Mrs. Kealoha told him to lie to the grand jury and that they secretly met in Woo's office.

But instead of turning over his phone and laptop as ordered, Woo reported both items stolen.

Ken Lawson, of the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law, says Woo appears to be digging himself a deeper hole with the FBI. Lawson says Woo could face state and federal charges if he didn't properly store the pistol, or if he gave it away.

I can tell you from experience that boats are a bad investment.  That’s how I lost my AR15 and Glock pistol.  A rogue wave hit the boat and knocked the gun case overboard.

Ghost gun and plastic pistol to get past TSA checkpoints.  Probably stolen by Aquaman rocking the boat instead of a real rogue wave.

This caveat prevented me from donating my last car to Kidney cars.  Not sure if it'd apply to the CR-V.  I found one of the towing companies on craigslist that did pick up my car for free.  I don't see their ad anymore though.

*For Oahu, due to overriding market conditions, a $100 tow fee will be assessed for all American made cars over 15 years old.

Can also turn it into the city and they will tow away but I heard it can take several weeks for them to pick up once you turn in the paperwork to a satellite city hall.
