Political Discussion / Re: Hamas attacks Israel

This is rather cold hearted.
ALL kidnapped victims are presumed dead.
the people who kidnapped them should be obliterated.
No negotiations.
You kidnap , you will die.  Ever watch the movie "Ransom"?????
will really cut down on that crime.

Personally I think every Progressive Democrat should be afraid to be in public.

I was born and raised here. Does that make me an expert on Hawaiian culture?

Yes

Totally agree.

I respect traditional Americans that believe in the former American republic but despise the US empire.

Like how some on this forum characterizes and often expresses dislike of what is Hawaiian culture as it has been generally portrayed?

I agree with your take, but it depends on cultural context.

Living in China, most people I dealt with don't care about the protection of personal liberties in the Western context.  However, perhaps the acquisition of wealth makes that issue a moot point as those with money are better able to enjoy life, which I suppose can be equated to personal liberty.
Interesting observation.
I can't imagine how people give up personal liberty.
That has been my friction with Hawaii since I moved here 24 years ago.
Y'all like being slaves.
I don't.

Having spent my whole life learning "stuff"
Plus doing all the stuff American white people are supposed to do eg
Military service, University education, buy home, work till you drop, raise
family, retire at 65( or earlier), yada, yada, yada.
I've learned all men are the same, as are all women
regardless of our nationalities, race or culture.
There are nut cases everywhere!
"when a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound"
Yes it does.  Just because nobody heard it or tells us about it
is irrelevant, it happened.
Just like crime in "perfect" societies.

oh damn. engineers battling it out with references to academic textbooks   so what model abacus are all y'all use when designing these bridges?
Y'all know a  slide rule , pencil and paper was used to design the rocket that put men on the moon.
An Abacus could have computed their salary.
What do you do if you have no power to run  your computer?
Us old guys know how.
To be honest my slide rule is broke, I no longer have an Abacus,
and I own 7 computers.  But hey I'm a computer scientist, software
engineer, and electronics engineer - retired.

I "suggest" that you calling a pistol your concealed carry doesn't have any meaning in this context.  If you can't get to it in a pinch, it might as well not exist.

Maybe coin a new term?  Perhaps "Out-of-State Carry (OSC)'?  That's pretty much what carry pistols were for those of us who carried them while on travel to the mainland.  The big differrence is it was still a viable home defense option here when not traveling.
Good point.
Nobody here breaks the law.
Even though it is a violation of your rights.

Oh, they are in great hands then. . .

The FSK bridge opened in 1977.  From the photos, the supports away from the primary pass through don't look "armored".  Don't know the bridge standards back then, but believe (been over 10 years since I worked on a bridge project) current codes require significant protection from vessel strikes.  That said, that container ship looked massive!

Tragic accident and looks like loss of life.  Also huge impacts to commerce.  Just shows how fragile and vulnerable the nation's infrastructure is.  Like when the truck hit the Aiea overpass and essentially shut down all of Oahu. . .
Y'all are a Civil engineer?
Even a engineer like me was forced to take physics as part of our education.
Y'all don't quickly stop a 100,000 ton DWT ship moving at 12 kts without some damage to something.
Bridges aren't designed to be hit by heavy ships, and buildings are not designed to be hit by fully loaded
widebody air craft

If your everyday carry (EDC) pistols are in another state,
you're doing it wrong.
Since I'm a legal resident of WA state,
have a WA state CCW license,
and I refuse to register any gun I may own, with the state of
Hawaii,  and the CCW hoops are BS and CCW licenses useless after all
new "safe" zones your governments have created,
what do you suggest?
I know that sentence is too long.
Airplane tickets are cheap.

Can't put red a dot on my PPK/S clone.
My wife will never see a new LC 9 with integral laser.
My conceal carry guns.
Safely stashed away outside HI.

I was always taught to keep both eyes open when shooting.
aim with one eye and watch for what ever with the other.
I suppose that comes from my heavy shotgun  background,
you really don't use sights much when the target is moving.
In fact all my hunting and self protection shotguns have no sights
on the barrel.
Just me I guess.

It's not the obvious "running through the system" that makes Zersetzung effective.  It's the covert and secretive means they use to tear people down.  This has manifested itself in the cancel culture we now have.

Rather than directly attack someone who opposes the policies and actions of the political power base, they use social media and the media at large to get them banned off all social media platforms.  Not only does that tactic serve to muffle, if not silence, them, it also deprives them of the income generated by the millions of people who follow them.

And the thing that gets them banned is better if it's not something related to their political comments.  instead, they find something recent or ancient the person said/posted/published and call it racist, homophobic, antisemitic, or whatever else -- whether it actually was or not.  They churn up the Left-wing mob to attack them relentlessly, and then the media "reports" on this tending topic because it's "news."  If the victim tries to apologize, they are attacked twice as hard for admitting they did something wrong.

That whole charade is losing its power since Elon hit the Twitter scene.  That's a plus.

The whole purpose of the Zersetzung was to destroy the integrity, credibility and reach of anyone they deemed a threat, even before they did anything worth worrying about.  it was a kind of "pre-crime", in which you could be targeted just because you happened have a relative that was politically active or once dated a political dissident before they were active.  It's very reminiecent of the McCarthy hearings, in which people were accused of being communist traitors without evidence.  It was a Ponzi scheme, in which one person was arrested and forced to name others they associated with.  Those names were then targeted in hopes they, too, would name others.  To survive, you had to turn in anyone as a Communist or be publicly cricified with no trial.
Flapp you are fairly well read! I kept "Zersetzung"  description short and close to what people have seen locally.

In hindsight McCarthy  was on the right track,  if not a little over the top.
He could do the same thing today and would empty most Democrat run Federal, state, and local governments,
just change "Communists",  which don't really exist to,  "Progressives", or tyrannical supporters.
Same end game.
 >:D

Commonly used by Democrats and RINOs today in the USA.
"Zersetzung – a pseudo-scientific term for what would now be called gaslighting, literally meaning “biodegradation”. Enemies of the state, Mielke instructed, should have their reputation “systematically discredited” by spreading “untrue” but “credible, non-refutable” rumours."
Gift of the STASI.

AKA used by law enforcement to run  you through the "system"
lose your job, use up your savings, and destroy you, due to legal
costs and it doesn't cost them a thing. Even though the case gets dropped.
Zersetzung !

Traci reports on one man's escape from the fire and the shameful treatment by government workers after the fire.

Who says civil servants have to be civil? This kind of attitude is common place these days.

I agree with you about the civil servant issue, then again, anybody who has read my comments,
knows how much I despise Government employee unions.  I'm not against private civilian unions,
I spent most my working life as a union member, I just know their union leadership are all crooks.

The guy strikes me as a old school progressive Democrat, but  I did catch one thing that I agree
with him on,  FEMA,  and quite possibly State and Local governments want to replace what was there with
"15 minute communities".  The latest progressive plan to control the population.
I got the impression he didn't like the idea  of living in a camp no matter how convenient that appears to be.

Made a scene because these kind of cops want to intimidate.
Law doesn't mean squat to them, just that they can make us all
comply at their whim.  >:D

Tulsi is a very astute politician.
But until Americans don't have to worry about universal gun registration and Ammo control,
Country wide acceptance of other states CCW licenses,
and no gun bans for traditional type of rifles like AR15's.
I will be very circumspect about her 2A stand.

Federal laws - private gun sales are perfectly legal.
Some state like Hawaii or WA state add their own BS
to make you "safer".
 :grrr:
You can buy and sell as many guns as you want PRIVATELY
under Federal law.
Y'all may get into grey area if you rent a space at a gun show.

A weak sick old man
and cops bust his ribs and face?
He probably could not afford his
hospital bill, so he wanted out.

High standards and trust of fellow officers MY A$$!
He probably mouthed off to them and they got pi$$ed off.
I trust the cops to judge their own,  NOT!

Military has the UCMJ and they will shove that up your ass
if you screw up. They have honor and a reputation
to protect.
Cops have neither and we see the results when "bad apples" aren't
gotten rid of.

I've been a "prepper" for over 40 years.
I'm a Polish Jew, French,  and English melange.

Prepping is not a racial thing, it is a recognition that shit happens
and YOU are responsible for you and your family.
Not some government run by idiots.
You are responsible!
Blacks had been conditioned for years to be dependent on LBJ
politics and are just now figuring out how vile and evil that
Democrat plan was and is. O0 :grrr:
Prepare;  it is up to you regardless of your race.
Y'all can only steal so much money from people like me, till the money runs out.

Preparedness and Survival / Re: Boeing Boeing Gone
« on: March 19, 2024, 07:49:19 AM »
I and many of my family worked at Boeing 20 years or more.
I was a technician for ten years and an engineer for ten years.
Many of my friends are Boeing Retirees.
We made and engineered the best aircraft in the world.
Then came the Democrat Bean counters.
That is all they can do, is count beans because they are too stupid to be engineers.
The same dipsticks that destroyed the Douglas aircraft company,
infected and are destroying the Boeing company.
I also have lots of friends and family that worked for McDonald Douglas.
it is all the same - Democrats,  they destroy every industry they
infect from mining, Steel, aluminum, to cars, shipyards, and aircraft.
all gone because of Democrats.
16th, 17th, and 19th amendments started it,
People that support idiots like Biden are finishing it.

I'm not sure if you are insulting me or being humorous.
Bottom line is I can fly to Florida, Texas, or Washington,  buy any gun I want without sucking some HPD dick.
and bring it back here.
r/t from Kona to Orlando is $326 each way.
Nice to have family.
