Rather than discuss the merits and facts of an issue, they have to label you as something negative and your arguments as "talking points."

This is why we can't solve anything through civil debate.  Might as well be discussing abortion/pro-life opinions with a Magic 8-Ball.

You're dealing with a cult.

Trying to get through with reason alone doesn't work because the views they are defending aren't merely an ethical stance, but the foundation of their very identity.

When someone disagrees with them they feel like part of themselves is being murdered. That's what makes them prone to violence, because in their eyes it's justifiable self defense.
