General Discussion / This could change things
« on: January 18, 2024, 07:17:37 AM »
Hawaii has always used "Administrative Rules" extensively. Un-elected bureaucrats making law.
If the Court rules right on this it could be a gamechanger.

General Discussion / Another shooting??
« on: September 04, 2023, 10:32:44 AM »
I see that there was another shooting incident, Last evening in Waipahu according to HNN
I thought all these laws were supposed to put a stop to all this
A couple of takeaways we can probably count on:

The perp did NOT have a concealed carry permit.
They didn't say, but its a good chance it occurred in a "sensitive place" No guns allowed.
The firearm in question was not legally obtained, and probably not registered, at least to the shooter.
Purely conjecture cuz nobody is talking, the Perp was probably a prohibited person.
This was not a random thing. The shooter and shootee were acquainted and had issues.
Oh, and the shooter needs practice. He missed.

Howcome none of that stuff ever makes the news?

General Discussion / Sensitive Places?
« on: April 16, 2023, 07:47:11 AM »
I see that our city Fathers forgot to include chicken fights  with the sensitive places that you can't carry in Bill 57.
That said... Thoughts and prayers for those killed and hurt, along with their families.
We don't need this.

General Discussion / Meet the new Boss?
« on: May 28, 2022, 08:07:13 AM »
I have'n't seen it discussed and am almost afraid to ask, but where does our new Police Chief, assuming he survives the
flap over the arrest of his son, stand on our 2A rights?
Will there be permits issued? or is the new Boss same as the old Boss? ???

General Discussion / Garand rebarreling
« on: October 30, 2020, 11:48:33 AM »
Is JHP still an entity, or is there someone else in town that will do a workmanlike job of rebarreling a garand?
Tried John's phone a couple times today without luck, and will use Fulton if I have to, but want to deal local if can.
Thanx in advance

Legal and Activism / New senator

I see that the Guv has appointed a replacement for Breene Harimoto
Gal's name is Misalucha.
Any one got the scoops on where she stands with 2A issues? I fear that she marches to the party drum.
There was nothing regarding that in the flyer they sent to us in the district introducing her.

General Discussion / Juvenile records
« on: November 18, 2019, 06:44:03 PM »
What is the skinny on a record as a Juvenile with regards a permit to acquire.?
Got a kid at work that had some issues as a juvenile, but has really cleaned up his act
and is interested in getting into shooting.

Thanx in advance

General Discussion / Kalihi shooting
« on: October 15, 2019, 06:17:29 PM »
So...... what's the inside skinny on the latest shooting?
The media is very un-newsey on the details
Do we have another prohibited person?? Something doesn't fit the narrative?
All the gun laws we have, he shouldn't have been able to get a gun? What do we do next?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Aloha, I think :'(

General Discussion / Two more shootings
« on: September 12, 2019, 07:57:41 AM »
Wait... What? Two more shootings after the Ala Moana incident? Three in a week?
One in Wahiawa and one in Kahului.
There oughtta be a law!
Common denominator is that in none of these events did the shootee have the wherewithal to defend himself from the shooter :'(

General Discussion / Berreta 81
« on: August 21, 2019, 06:00:56 PM »
Hey guys
There are a couple of vendors out there that are selling Berreta 81's in 32 cal at a very workable price...A couple hundred bucks...
But... they have a 12 rd magazine.
Classic's suggestion is to find an FFL who will bring it in for me and pin the mag before releasing it.
Anyone know, 1) If there is a shop here that will do this, and 2) Is pinning or blocking the mag an acceptable fix to keep me out of jail.?
I really want one of these, but the ten rd mag thing rains on my parade.
What could be wrong? A medium frame in an easy to shoot caliber. I like my 32's.
No future in buying it without a magazine, then looking for a compliant one.
Modification seems like the only way.
Thanks in advance

General Discussion / Lotta shootings for "gun Free" Hawaii
« on: August 09, 2019, 07:11:33 PM »
Seems like there have been a lot of shootings here in gun free Hawaii over the last year or so.
Heck, two in the last couple of days.
Also seems like all of these are perpetrated by "prohibited people", folks for all the laws are not s'posed to have a gun.
The recent two are examples, a sex offender and a felon in possession, wanted for parole violation, trying to rob someone. I see a common thread.
I thought the law was to keep these kind of guys from having guns.
My question, does anyone have the tally of shootings, say over the last year here. Were the perps lawful gun owners under our
draconian laws?
Were Federal charges preferred on those where appropriate? (no parole if convicted)
Why were these folks... so many of them on the street???
If an accounting is available I would really like to see it.
I will beat up my legislator with it.
Aloha...
I think

Oh, and why are we not allowed to defend ourselves????

General Discussion / Big Island range?
« on: July 19, 2019, 03:56:00 PM »
Isn't the range, such as it may be, in Pohakuloa near Puuhuluhulu somewhere?
Right around the hunter check station?
I'll bet there is no shooting going on for the duration. :(

General Discussion / Another shooting??? This time in Punaluu
« on: April 20, 2019, 07:51:06 PM »
I thought that all these gun laws were going to put a stop to this!
How many now in the last few months?
Clearly the powers that be have succeeded in making it hard for folks like us to acquire a firearm, but the bad guys have no such issue.
We need a history of all these incidents that shows where all the guns came from. Needs to be front page
Stolen, prohibited person, Felon in possession...
And some enforcement of the laws in place. Why are all these clowns with long rap sheets on the street?
Mandatory sentencing and Federal charges for those where it applies (no Parole)
Or we need to be allowed to defend ourselves.
Aloha... I think ???

General Discussion / "Common sense gun laws"
« on: March 31, 2019, 06:37:34 PM »
Well Mr and Ms legislators... How are all those gun laws working out for ya'?? Keeping Hawaii Safe??
All those laws that you said would keep guns out of the hands of the bad guys, those that shouldn't have them.
Anyone who shoots somebody in any but a defensive situation is by definition a bad guy.
There have been how many shootings in the State the last couple of weeks? With today's at least a half dozen I think. Some here some off Island
Easy to take guns away from us, but it seems that those that aren't supposed to have one, always find a gun somewhere.
The black market is alive and well... unregulated. Want a gun? only costs money.
Common denominator I bet is all these Perps are non permitted, felons in possession, Rap sheets a mile long, firearms non registered and probably stolen at one time or another.
As for us defending ourselves?, well I guess you could call the police for whatever good that may do.
You gotta love this place
Aloha, I think

General Discussion / Went to the range today
« on: January 27, 2019, 06:15:05 PM »
Went to the range today after a fairly long hiatus.
My son (32) was home and we thought we would relive some good times. Did in fact.
Had a ball.
Couple of things I noticed tho'.
Pistol caliber carbines/rifles at the pistol range... the ones I saw were .22 cal. but rifles non the less.
This was a surprise. When did that happen?
Also a large group of non English speaking folks with a lead guy of some sort holding court, running the show.
Maybe it was his friends and family from the old country, or maybe some kind of commercial venture.
IDK, but they did take up a bunch of space.
One would hope the range is properly compensated for any revenue producing activity.
Aloha
