Title: Bug Out Bin
Post by: changemyoil66 on June 07, 2019, 09:00:59 AM
Thinking of starting a bug out bin to go with the BOB.  Something with wheels and water tight.

Wheels so its more mobile.  Gonna fill with extra supplies and stuff that won't go into the BOB.

Thoughts?  Or am I being to paranoid?

I know a few who have similar. Smaller, but depends on your needs. A couple of peeps that have the bins almost that size are for family of 4-5. Also those 5 gal buckets on lighter/folding hand trucks. Pretty versatile.

I used to take the same box to the range days, they get heavy FAST when packing them. I got pretty good deadlifting it in back of an SUV lol. Now, its used for storing small motorcycle parts.

How about a suitcase?

Wont hold the weight of water.

The Aquaduct Bike can store and transport up to 8 liters of water.  It filters and purifies the water as you peddle.

Then there's the Waterwheel.  It holds 45L.

If water is the main concern for your "extra supplies" bin, having a separate water storage/transport method makes more sense.  You can have someone using the water carrier to find and bring back water without having to rob you of the means to transport and store your other extra supplies.

Why carry water though more than what you'd need to get to your destination?  At the most, a hydroflask or 2 per person.

Wouldn't it be best to already have water at your destination?

Back up place is my parents and they're not preppers.  Space is limited (condo) so they wont allow me to stash stuff there.

But my mom is the kind who fills up all the pots and pans once the warning comes out.

What about a self storage unit with some emergency supplies?  A car would be better for that.

It just doesn't seem practical to transport large amounts of water in a bug out situation.
