Biden telling stores to stop charging higher prices
« on: March 13, 2024, 01:02:26 PM »
So, it's not inflation -- it's price gouging by businesses that makes things so expensive now.

That's according the Resident Biden's White House.

Is he stupid?

Senile?

Ignorant?

A lying, evil Democrat?

What do you expect from an administration that gives the same State of the Union address 3 times in a row?

here's another wonderful idea from the great State of Cali
https://www.foxbusiness.com/energy/california-braces-new-electric-plan-make-more-pay-more
charge people based on how much money they make
needs a toothbrush? 99 cents for people making less than x amount but $100 for people making over x amount. Who will decide this x amount? oh of course, government....

Wtf is a "corperation?"

And then there's the 'social justice" BS allowing rampant larceny.

Grocery chain reveals shoplifting losses outpace earnings as theft ticks up

Part of the reason for grocery profits isn't higher prices, but more people starting to cook rather than eat out since the pandemic.  After staying home and being able to cook more, people realized they can get better meals at home than McD's.

There's also more shopping due to gov't assistance.  Loss of jobs = qualified for SNAP/EBT.  And during COVID, The feds added an additional amount to SNAP as part of the economic recovery "plan."  That remained in effect until about a year ago when Biden declared the emergency over.  All those tax dollars had to be spent in grocery stores -- McD's is not eligible.

In a hyper-inflationary environment the prices at the store change while you are shopping. It disincentivizes savings which gives the appearance of economic growth even though it's just politicians stealing the value of your money, thereby forcing you to spend your paycheck as fast as possible

BTW, the war in Ukraine (Biden's pet spending program) is one of the major reasons food companies in the US are seeing higher prices -- and in turn higher profits.

'The war in Ukraine has cut production of wheat and corn from one of the world’s
largest grain exporters, pushing up prices around the world. Because grain is so
widely traded and easily shipped, its price is global, like the price of oil."

Along with increased profits the food companies are also paying more for energy, fuel, transportation, labor,  etc.  If Archer-Daniels makes a larger profit, not only do the increases in operating costs eat into that, but so do taxes.  Every dollar they can return to shareholders is a dollar the IRS wants a big part of.
