General Discussion / Re: wire-free surveillance security camera system
« on: February 12, 2019, 04:38:52 PM »
Another option would be using IP cameras that use power-over-ethernet (PoE).  Data and power are transmitted over a single ethernet cable.  This would eliminate your need to install electrical at the camera's location.  With this type of setup you can have an NVR w/local monitoring.  The downside is that type of camera setup is not easy to configure, but if you have a tech-inclined friend he/she could probably help you get it set up.

I agree with IP cameras and get professional install. I tried wireless and get interference from my home phone. So I went wired budget CCTV and not that great for night. So I spent as much as a Barrrett 50 for my system. Super clear. Get Smart IP for main area and smaller for other areas. Talk to local CCTV company and get a free quote, then decide if you want it and install it yourself.

If on a budget, I would go Nest. I saw Samsung IP at SAMS club. It wired to a main unit so no power is need at camera location. Works pretty good. I use Lifeline Alarm and CCTV to do my home. Professional IP FLIR and smart cameras. I do not care if it’s larger than smaller type. I want the crooks to know I have them. I have no blind spots. I own the day and night, security is my main concern for my family and protect my weapons and property. Spend more if you can, if you can’t Id the crook, no can catch them.

General Discussion / Re: Desert tech MDR in 308 omg
« on: January 27, 2019, 02:07:26 PM »
Test my MDR today and had several failures to feed and got stuck. Had to bang the butt stock to get it out. Good thing I was not at Koko, someone range officer would get mad.  I was using my 168g reloads that works on all my other 308 rifles. Have to test with factory ammo next time. However, it shot pretty good when it works, great trigger and balance. Still waiting the the upgraded gas valve to come in.

Tried to register. Even though I have current long arm permit, I still have register as new. I forgot to bring my passport. I thought everything are electronic filed. Not about to go back today. Traffic will suck soon.

Interesting topic. I believe having a sign posted around your house with no trespassing, lights around dark entry points, beware dogs on property, lock gates, cameras with house alarms signs posted would help with your defense case of intruder trying to entering you property without permission. I would tell attorney that I did what I can to prevent it. Shooting intruder you better justify that you life and family member is in great danger and last resort. Call 911 if time permits or have someone call. For my dc I use factory hollow point rounds to only stop the threat. Use similar semi pistol and caliber that I mostly train and comfortable with only 10 rounds or less. No trigger mod, just light factory trigger.  I wouldn’t be that guy setting off the round without not knowing what was behind the door. Move back take cover, protect your family from harm. That’s just me. For all the people that know me I heavily mod all my firearms except the dc.

I have Kimber 1911 45 acp. On target every time.  But can’t go Sig, Colt, and Springfield. If you go 9mm , first gun I would buy HK VP9. That’s just me.

Addictive timely and costly hobby. If you can find a great price on a Dillon, it’s a great machine. Wet Tumbler and hoard on brass.

Merry Christmas from the Philippines. Talk to some Cops here and they are issued used Glock 17, rusted 38, and out dated M16. One of the guy told me that his M16 already blew up in his face. They don’t have body armor.  Hope to come home soon, getting bored here. Internet sucks.

I carry during duty with condition 1 with manual safety everyday for 15 years. Came across various incidents that I had to pull out many times. I like having manual safety for duty only because every incident changes quickly. I do
carry my HK2000SK LEM IWB holster condition 1.  It like the opposite of a standard DA/SA.
There's two hammers.
The internal one is cocked by the slide and stays cocked.
The external is a DAO.
When you're actually shooting the gun the slide is going to re-cock the internal hammer.
So you have the light pull first and following shots.

Only if you have a bad primer.
And the round doesn't fire.
Then you will get the heavier double action like pull for second strike capability.

I do own HK VP9 striker but prefer LEM for CCW. Law Enforcement Modification trigger.

General Discussion / Re: Saiga 7.62 AK conversion
« on: October 08, 2017, 06:21:58 PM »
I just did a saiga 308 pg conversation for the 1st time. Pretty easy. I used a drill press and Dremel to cut the trigger guard off. The hardest part for me was installing the standard ALG trigger. The trigger rear need to clear and hit the crossbar. I end up buying a mod tapco not knowing that Carolina SS just released their mod ALG trigger. Price depends what you want.
