General Discussion / Re: Range could open Friday !!!

"Firing line point numbers 28 to 105 will be for bench shooting only"
"Firing line point numbers 16 to 27 will be for position (standing, sitting, or prone) only."

Wish there was more spaces for standing, sitting, prone.  12 seems too little, compared to the over 75 bench only places...

Plus what about numbers 1-15?

I hope this changes.  I like to change positions when shooting, to include going from bench to prone especially for targets beyond the 100yard line.  But with all these changes will we ever be able to shoot beyond 100yards?

3. Use a heat gun to heat up the stock and make the cosmoline come out.

This was the method I used.  Still it was time consuming however be careful as the stock can shrink (as it did in my case) and may crack during reassembly (again as it did in my case)  :grrr: .  Be careful more so on the thinner areas of the stock as mine warped inwards by the rear tang area  . Because of this I wound up sanding areas of the stock just to be able to reassemble the darn thing.  To further add I wound up doing a hell of a glass bedding job (pain in the ass is what I meant) while I was at it.

For refinishing I used the good ole Rit dye (mixture of Wine (Red), Sunshine Orange and Dark Brown) along with 3 coats of Tung Oil.  The stock finish did not come out as planned (this is what I get for testing on different types of wood thinking it will come out the same).  Hope this helps .

So does this mean we won't see hikers going up Kokohead during live fire anymore?  I mean after all, these measure are being put in place for Public Safety Concerns.

I have the Remington 700 5r with a 20" barrel. I had a PWS muzzle brake installed to cut down on the recoil, but I tend to get a bit more attention since the report is fricken LOUD!  I can hit all of the metal plates in the back of Kokohead's range if I do my part.

I did the same with my 700PSS.  I the length is very ideal and I really like the muzzle brake.

Anyone know anything about the one that shot him?

As I learned today he's a Marine Veteran who served in Iraq and has apparently been out of the Marine Corps for about 4+ years now.  And as standard practice he's been tested for PTSD prior to his exit of service.  What's interesting is that according to sources he wasn't diagnosed by the Marine Corps.

What makes this even more interesting is that I know of a Marine who served closely with him in Iraq.  They are absolutely shocked that this guy is suffering from PTSD, and based on their friendship they find his recent actions unbelievable.  It's to the point that they are speculating and is digging even deeper themselves to try and uncover any truth.  I'm assuming at this point that it's due to his MOS as it wasn't in the 03 field (Infantry) so it's questionable as to what PTSD could he be suffering from let alone the limited action they have potentially seen?  I'll let you all know what I find out if my source has anything more to add.

I need to renew my permit soon.  So we'll see how this goes as I too am a disabled veteran who also goes to the VA Medical Center.

On another note I I knew this mental health was a slippery slope.

LMAO, of all the renditions of this video clip this one actually made me laugh.  But I have to ask are the USGI mags hard to come by as well?  They only seem to talk about the poly ones.

General Discussion / Re: Piers Morgan gets OWNED by Ben Shapiro 1/10/13
« on: January 10, 2013, 10:14:59 PM »
Although I wasn't clear about it, Shapiro's approach was the premises of my earlier thread "Choose your own crime stats".   He touches on sensationalism and how just a few incidents with a "Circle of Attention" type of firearm causes this widespread panic.  In all honesty I want the liberals to actually find out how idiotic they sound when they fear the magazine fed rifle and cite its mass killing potential only to then look at the crime stats and see how Handguns have a higher statistic involvement with firearm related deaths.  I find the cliche saying hypocritical "I support the 2A, and believe citizens should be allowed to own handguns, but not an assault weapon".

In essence I want the left to attack and propose an out right ban so they can  realize their stupidity in their lack of a stance.  We all know too damn well the out right ban will spark a movement.

What I tend to argue with anyone having an anti-2A stance is that they hold consistency in their arguments.  If their believe in their 1A then they must recognize the 2A as it's part of the Constitution.  If they're concern for the safety of people and hold this anti stance then hold it across the board for all firearms and not just a handpicked group of them.  I'll tend to respect anyone's stance if they're consistent, whether or not I agree is a different story.

This video was brought to my attention by a buddy of mine.  Although I've already came to this conclusion by my own research on the FBI's site I like this video much better.  I just wish it would go into more actual stats, but......

General Discussion / Re: look at the proposed gun ban.

Feinstein is aiming for the sky trying to scare the crap out of gun owners, but likely little or nothing in her bill will ever become law.

With the way this guys explains it, her ideals way out in left field (pun intended)

I thought about making a separate thread however since the topic has already been brought up I felt that it would be more fitting to post the article here:

"Rocket Launcher" turned in during LA's buy back program

I swear these people and the media are a bunch of idiots.  Those AT4 tubes are useless after they've been fired and can be purchased as merely decoration or props at any military surplus store.  However mad props to the genius who saw the light in getting free food, shame on the city of Los Angeles for being fooled.

if "Assault Weapons" = Rifles, then someone explain this....

FBI's Murder statistics for 2011

Because after all the public wants the problem to be solved.  Oh and they don't support an outright ban just "Assault Weapons" because they can kill more people and a faster rate.

Went to SA in Kapolei at 0230 this morning.  Had a long line but I found front row parking.  9mm, 45acp was plentiful.

Reloading / Re: Commercial reloading on island?
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:47:04 AM »
Sounds like a great idea to increase downsizing of our ranks. Especially since it is against regulations to use reloaded ammo in government weapons. There are contracted companies that are making millions off the government that would not hesitate to point that out.

The only local military that could take advantage of  commercially reloaded ammo is the Defend Hawaii Ohana

This is what bugs me of Defense spending.
