Quick question,
My friend has an application in that has taken over the 120days since he applied. When he was there last week to register another pistol he asked on the status and they told him to just wait for the letter in the mail. Is there anything he can do to find out the status or get his approval letter? And is there any penalty or recourse for hpd taking longer than the 120days? Thanks.

That was definitely a thought and still may happen. The price of complete rifle is $800, a custom prefit is slightly less than that so at worst case I’ll pull the barrel and sell it and replace with a prefit and have a new gun. Win/win.

Thanks for the reply.
18” 7.5twist rate. Gonna shoot axis, goats, and pigs with it. Loading the 80.5 bergers, and 75eldms and doing a quick load development with staball and h4350 to find a good node for them. Hopefully they work as expected.

Ended up calling to confirm and see where it’s at in the process. They said it was received, but they’re backlogged 400+ so expect 6-8weeks for the emailed registration.

Gonna have a lot of potentially pissed off people come the beginning of the year if permits get denied after waiting hours in line on top of the 2 week waiting period with the conflicting information being put out by hpd.

Yup friend in line for pta just told me same thing. If applying for permit to acquire today, if they want to pick it up next year they need to bring certificate of new training requirements for pickup after 1/1/24.

Will a current Hawaii ccw class be accepted for 2024 pistol permit to acquire as the instructors were already vetted by hpd and the new chiefs rules in 2023?

Seen hifico recommended doing this. Did anyone file a complaint with the police commission for ccw permits not being issued in timely manner? Does it need to be notorized?

Seen that posted also. There is no timeframe, order of processing, status updates, or information available to applicants once they apply and that is unacceptable. Just a total run around from hpd when you try to find out information. They should be processed in the order received. Supposedly there’s only one person handling the applications? Ridiculous if that’s true. I don’t understand why no lawsuit has been filed yet for ccw but there’s been some for batons and other things.
