General Discussion / Re: Cerakote & Robar

you can do it yourself (cerekote) if you have an extra oven and a spray gun.  You can always take your parts down to any machine shop or some place like that to get it sandblasted for cheap.

get a safe ASAP!

The thing is, if you don't have a large collection or if your collection is not that valuable, it's cheaper just to buy more guns or save the money for new guns.  Lets say I have a single .22lr handgun which cost me 200 bucks used, are you saying it would be worth it for me to even buy even a cheap desktop handgun safe which cost just about the same amount as this gun does?  I live alone with no kids in my home ever.  A good safe not only takes up money but precious real estate in your home (not everyone in hawaii has a big house or even a house.  Some of us live in a studio/one bedroom apartment...).  Transporting a large dedicated gun safe is also a problem, espeically up stairs or up places which don't have elevators.  Ideally yes, you should get a safe but you should realize that a safe is not for everyone.

Health, Fitness, and First Aid / Re: Tourniquets: yay or nay?
« on: February 16, 2013, 12:56:39 AM »
Tourniquets should not remain in place longer than 10 minutes at a time.  If the source of the bleeding cannot immediately be identified and ligated, the tourniquet should be loosened momentarily every 10 minutes.

I'd highly recommend you test fire as many guns as possible and in as many calibers as possible.  If you can't shoot them, go down to a few gun stores and handle them to see if they fit you.  They all are a bit different.  Your gonna have to take a handgun safety course either way and they ususally have a portion where you get to shoot various guns in various calibers at the end of the class.  I highly recommend hawaii defense foundation because you get the paperwork to actually go out and buy a gun right after the class and not 2 months later like others do.  It's very fun and you learn a lot since your not familar with semiauto handguns.

P.S.  more people have been killed by .22lr then any other caliber out there.  it can and will kill a human just fine.  Shot placement is what is important.  Id rather get shot in the hand or foot with a .45acp then in the head or heart with a .22lr!

you could always buy a a/c for 100-150 bucks and be good to go...  just saying and it will make your room comfortable.  Too much eletricity?  Just buy a single solar pannel from revolusun or 2 from the other crappier brands and it will power your 5-12k btu a/c unit 24/7!  I keep my room at a comfortable 60 degrees year round and have never had  problem with rust here.

was there at 11:55am and it took me only 30 mins to get to the front of the line (about 6 people infront of me).  Then after 5 mins there were like 11 people behind me.

Oi, this is really why you guys should recommend and go to the Hawaii Defense Foundation for your Handgun safety class needs.  You get your Handgun affidavit right after the class is done!  I couldn't imagine waiting 4-6 weeks for a peice of paper but then again, we have to wait 2 weeks for a background check from hpd...

General Discussion / Re: printable 30 round ar mags!!!
« on: February 06, 2013, 04:37:07 AM »
you can make them yourself or find someone with a printer and have that printer print out an entire new machine for you.  The inital printers cost about 1000-1500 dollars new if you can't find someone with one or you can build it out of parts yourself.  There are a lot of designs on the internet.  If there is a gun ban you can bet a whole bunch of people will turn to this in order to first make themselves a few mags and then ebay the rest off at an amazing profit!  People are selling mags for 50 bucks a pop now adays and their actually selling out like hotcakes!  Remember, its not a mag until you put it together...  Until then it could just be a plastic utensile holder.

General Discussion / Re: Q-Line hiding in plain sight gun cabinets [video]

the cost to ship to hawaii alone would be pretty expensive I would imagine.  nice idea and who doesn't want something as cool as this but personnaly I'd focus on buying more guns and ammo rather then something to hide them which is flammable...  Lets say you have 2 ar-15's, a shotgun or two and a few handguns, for the price of this unit you could probally double or triple the amount of guns you currently own and either store them off sight at someone elses house or around the house in different areas.  Hell bury a few guns if you need to and it still comes out cheaper then having an elaborate peice of furniture!  If you have the money for it, why not buy it but not everyone has that kinda cash laying around.

« on: February 03, 2013, 01:40:04 AM »
Has anyone locally tried printing out ar15 lowers and mags?  http://defcad.org/ has them for free download.

I like the 3d printer which can print out another full 3d printer...
