Anyone have a Glock 42 yet?
« on: April 09, 2014, 09:39:11 PM »
I was thinking of getting the new G42 but want to know if anyone that has one if they are experiencing any problems?  And what kind of ammo you are using. I read mostly good review but some negative ones too.

Took mine out once.  No function problems at all.  It's like 1/2 the size of my other Glock grips.  Will take practice to get used to the feel, especially trigger finger placement.
Used 50 rds Federal RTP 95gr TMJ.  Muzzle velocity listed at 945 fps.

I have a buddy with one, I'll ask him his impressions.

Hold out for the 9mm version. It would be stupid of glock not to come out with one.

9mm +P ammo out of a Glock 26 makes the 42 worthless for me if we can't ccw here.  I'll wait till I see we can actually get ccw here.  If not I'll stick with my 9mm right now

Is there a big difference between 9mm and .380?
Wont a .380 get the job done?  I never shot a 9mm before so don't know anything about the caliber.

I have one.  Shot it over the weekend.  Put 100 rounds thru it with no problems.  Shot Blazer Brass and American Eagle both (95grain).  Very fun pistol to shoot.  Its a keeper for me!

Blue water hunter in Kona has a Glock 42 for $452, I looked at it in the case but did not hold it. It is really pretty big considering it is a 6rd .380 just like the LCP, P3AT only bigger and more expensive. My own philosophy is that if you want a pocket pistol get a pocket pistol. If you want something a little bit bigger step up to a 9mm. Personally I do have the LCP and think it is a great little gun that is extremely comfortable to carry. Regarding the 380 auto cartridge... Not my first choice but I do not feel under armed with it by any means.

If you decide to get one, you'll have fun with it. Especially if your used to the Glock platform.  Just point and shoot!
