4 arrested at Maven Hotel, police feared a ‘Las Vegas-style shooting' during All-Star Game in Denver

Sources said police removed 16 long guns, body armor and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from the room which featured a balcony overlooking the downtown area. The sources said they feared the number of weapons, ammo, vantage point and large crowds could have resulted in a "Las Vegas-style shooting."

Based on the information provided by the hotel employee, police executed a search warrant and found the guns, ammo, body armor and a man inside the room on the eighth floor.

One of the suspects arrested Friday night had posted a message on Facebook referencing a recent divorce and saying he was going to “go out in a big way,” according to the multiple law enforcement sources.

In total, three men and one woman were arrested Friday night, along with two vehicles which were also impounded to be processed for possible evidence.

Richard Platt, 42, for investigation of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (two counts), and a warrant from another jurisdiction.
Gabriel Rodriguez, 48, for investigation of possession of a weapon by a previous offender, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
Ricardo Rodriguez, 44, for investigation of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Kanoelehua Serikawa, 43, for investigation of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and a warrant from another jurisdiction.

Kanoelehua Serikawa ???  that is definitely a Hawaii name.

What does "possession of a weapon by a previous offender" mean?

I don't know what it means but it seems to literally translate into possession of a weapon that was criminally used by another low-life.

Do they get these weapons from the network "criminals are Us"?  Rent one get one free?

Is that what it means or is there another legalese explanation?

Barring being a felon... just because a group of people have numerous firearms and 1000's of rounds, that is not enough evidence to perform a search.  Anyone ever go to a defensive firearms training class with a group? How many firearms will you (individual) bring? A couple rifles, a shotgun, couple of handguns and enough ammo to last a week (500+ per firearm)

These are the dangers that law abiding firearms owners face. If we don't push back, this is the road we're on and it will be a long a bumpy one.

There isn't really enough information to judge. According to the report a search warrant was obtained based on something said by the hotel employee. We don't know what that tip was or where it could have lead to. The tip may have been sufficient on its own to get a search warrant or it may have lead officers to other things which then justified the search warrant, or it is even possible they were just worried without cause and a judge signed the warrant to be safe but who knows.

A few assumptions can be made:

1) Hotel called PD and gave the name of the occupants which when ran turned out to have criminal records (not allowed to own guns/ammo)
2) Hotel called PD and red flag used without running any occupants. See Colin Noirs example when he travels for classes and uses hotels.
3) Hotel called PD and they knocked on the door and saw in view guns. Then was given names by the occupants and they ran them and came back hot.

I think it was a maid blew the whistle, they were charged with having enough drugs for distribution. You leave a dozen ARs AND a pound of meth on your bed when they come to clean the toilets, someone is going to call a cop and they will have PC to come look.
