My logical brain says that if you charge property owners a tax for empty dwellings, then you'll have fewer empty properties. That's how tax policies are designed: when you want less of something, you tax it, and when you want more of something you subsidize it.
The illogical part I see is an empty home costs less for government to service -- i.e. calls for police, trash pickup, sewage treatment, etc.
My question would be, how much does the government save having a house empty vs one that's occupied all year? That's not just the service cost, but also having to have on staff enough employees to provide that service.
It seems to me, the tax collected is going to be reduced as people find occupants, and the cost of those occupied homes will reduce any revenue collected making this whole scheme another "Cash for Cars" disaster.

Since the default is now void, that would make the no guns allowed signs put up have no weight of the law.You can't negate a business' right to ban carry on their property just because the default ban is no longer valid/enforced.
For Vegas, most casinos will tell u to check ur gun 1st.
A sign has the same weight of law regardless of what the default stance is under the statute.
Most laws have a caveat saying that if one provision is found to be legally unenforceable, that doesn't mean the entire law is unenforceable -- just that one provision is. So, if the default ban provision is placed on hold, it doesn't mean the penalties for ignoring a business' signs are no longer valid.

Sounds like grounds for abstaining from any decisions regarding firearms due to conflict of interest as there is a pre-biased opinion.
Taking guns away from law abiding, safety-conscious people won't do anything to protect the criminals and careless people among us. In fact, it makes the people following the law easier prey for the criminal element. I never figured out how taking MY guns keeps the idiot down the street from blowing his own head off.

I wonder how many of those accidental gunshots were/should have been classified negligent discharges. Stats show that a truly accidental discharege is rare. Most of them are attributable to parties failing to follow proper firearm safety rules.
Instead of fewer guns, how about more money for free firearm safety classes, for firearm challenges and other events and for locking storage for new owners.

Two because of marital problems and one went into deep depression after his father died.I've known one person while in Hawaii to kill themselves. The teenage son across the street from us in Mililani hanged himself from the loft railing inside the home while the family was out. I'll never forget hearing the mother's screams when they walked in on it.
He was troubled, was into drugs and had just graduated from Mililani High School. I saw 2 times when Cop cars were there bringing him home.
Two girls from my high school killed themselves just over a year after I graduated. I was in band with one and Jr ROTC with the other. One used a pistol and the other a shotgun.
Goes to show, there are always cases which don't follow the statistics. The boy who hanged himself didn't have access to guns, but he succeeded anyway. Again, there are more significant factors involved when someone attempts suicide.
There are a couple of threads here where a certain mothereefer tried to argue the academic (common sense?) viewpoint that guns increase the success rate of suicides. He has no data to back that claim up which I repeatedly pointed outt but to no avail. I imagine Green also passionately substitutes his own beliefs for reality. Changing minds is impossible when they believe they are right.

The majority of suicides among men involve hanging, carbon monoxide poisoning and firearms. However, the majority of suicides among women involve drug overdose.
While it's easy to single out the means used as the differentiating factor as to why more men succeed than women at offing themselves, even though women attempt suicide 2 to 3 times as often as men, studies suggest it's not that men use more lethal means. It's been shown that men are likely more committed to ending their lives while women are using suicide attempts as a means of getting attention or help dealing with their problems.
To that point, when focusing on a single method of dying such as hanging (the number one method in the UK), men still succeed at a much higher rate than women.
I think it's been theorized that men don't think about the aftermath for others when they shoot themselves. The scene is a messy, violent scenario that someone must happen upon (creating trauma for that person/s), and someone must clean up the gore it creates. Women are more likely to choose a mice, neat method that doesn't create as much gore, like OD, hanging or slicing their wrists in a tub to contain their blood.
The bottom line is, suicide is a major concern in all countries, even those with restricted access to firearms. There is no data to support the theory that fewer firearms in society means fewer successful suicides. « on: June 25, 2026, 10:38:27 AM »...I have an uncanny record for hitting bets when I cash out. I'll take a random amount off my cash-out and wait until the next come-out. I normally bet on 11, since that also sends good vibes to the pass line bettors. Other times I'll put it on the pass line.
I played the Bonus feature at the craps table, the all small, all tall, and the all. Hit the small and tall several times (pays 31 to 1) Good fun! Several times all we needed was one number to hit the ALL (151 to 1) but it never hit. I played those bets two way, meaning I also bet for the dealers alongside with me. The dealers get so excited when we place bets for them on the bonus.
I like go again but I have to wait a while. I lost too much money, LOL!
More often than not, 11 rolls which wins on either bet. But, there are times a 7 rolls, making the pass bet the better call. The dealers actually wake up at that point, shocked that their one-roll YO bets won. If a point is established, they still have a chance for that number to repeat on the pass, so I'll stick around and see if that works out.
Sometimes it's more fun when you aren't betting for yourself. Those chips are gone regardless.

I bought a different Type S model a few years ago at Costco. I used it a few times, and it always worked.
I never worry about finding something better or cheaper than what Costco carries. If it goes on sale at Costco within 30 days, they will refund you the difference, After 30 days, they will issue a full refund, and then you can purchase it again at a lower price if that's the case, Or use the money to buy a cheaper or newer version from anywhere you like.
That applies to almost everything except certain electronics, computers, etc. They also started refusing refunds of certain items after dangerous weather conditions are predicted. In general, their refund policy is insanely generous. Just be sure to keep all your receipts for the big ticket items. Without the receipt, they will only refund the lowest amount the item sold for which may be less than you paid. Even though they offer digitial receipts on theit website/app, they only keep hem going back a given amount of time. Best to either keep the paper receipts, or take a picture on your phone -- hopefully syncing it with your cloud storage.

After that, I discovered Facebook.
I avoided Facebook when I was working because I noticed my young coworkers were not doing their job while playing social media crap on their phones.
I noticed 2 disturbing things on Facebook.
1. Most of the posts are attention-seeking BS advertising
2. If you look at the posts and/or comments, a majority of them are written by people who can't spell or write correctly.
That's a sad indicator of the level of education today.
It's a useful tool for staying in touch with friends and family, but not much else.
Facebook was the wedge that opened the Pandora's box that is now under the Social Media umbrella. They pushed boundaries that had yet to be tried because they were the first.
MySpace may have been first as a place to post about yourself for strangers to consume, but it wasn't being driven by algorithms, feeding people what each individual craved and thn using their searches and shopping habits in order to target ads expecially for them.
Zuck didn't become a billionaire by creating a town hall for the world to connect and reconnect with each other. He did it by using AI to guess what you wanted before you even knew you wanted it!
