General Discussion / Re: Red Dot on Handgun - Sharing Experiences
« on: January 26, 2021, 10:54:16 PM »
I've decided to not RDS the VP9. I just ordered a new WML IWM holster that has a hood from Fal Tac Industries. This way I don't have to keep removing the light when using the G-code one.  Fal Tac makes custom kydex. Prob gonna get a g-string holster next for when we go to vegas and use fanny pack when going to the gym.

"They" control the media and dont care about legal gun owners.

Agree.

Then, next question is, how do we push this to a larger national audience for greater external pressure?

How do we call her out on this comment and ask her to thoroughly explain it?

Political Discussion / Re: The Biden Report
« on: April 19, 2020, 08:37:01 AM »
After all the other Democrat Primary and "Biden said what??"  topics, I thought we could use a new spot for collecting comments pertaining to Joe Biden's Nomination and the fun things he does and says leading up to the debates.

Remember:  Former VP and Senator Joe Biden was up against a field of 26 other Democrats for this nomination.  He's the best of the best -- cream of the crop -- champion among champions. This is the most capable man the Democrats could find from a field of 27 people to run against an incumbent president with a YUUUUUGE list of accomplishments -- not the least of which is getting his job done amidst constant attacks and distractions on a daily basis.

Here's my thoughts:

I'm most concerned about who is selected as Biden's VP, because I'm convinced that, if he is elected, the Democratic Party will either:

1) Do an overt "about face," claim that Biden lacks mental capacity, and have the VP assume office;

Or,

2) Keep Biden in office, surreptitiously have him relinquish control to the VP and serve as a "figure head" only.

In either scenario, he will most certainly be used as a scapegoat, and be used to solidify the VP's future nomination and election.

He will truly embody the definition of a Useful Idiot.

Again, just my thoughts.

Rather than move, maybe consider thinking of ways to change the status quo?

Breaking News:

Federal Judge found dead; hands and feet bound with 2 gunshot wounds to back of head. Investigators rule out Foul Play and classify death as an unattended suicide.

In other news, HRC agrees to fully cooperate with any inquiries into the use of her private email server, and expects to be fully exonerated of any wrong-doing.

A friend of mine checked out the RG3 @ SS 2020 and said it was tight.

I trust his opinion on FOV, red dot illumination, and eye box/eye relief at 1x and at 10x.

... but just to further confuse matters, I hear that Kahles dropped a pretty phenomenal 1-8x LPVO.

Rumor and innuendo:

Vortex Razor HD Gen III, 1-10x LPVO; 21.5oz; 10.1" long; 3.6" eye relief; 34mm tube.

Hope someone can validate and report back from SS 2020!

Instead of further punishing LAW-ABIDING firearm owners with more restrictions, why not revise the Penal Code to recommend stricter sentencing guidelines to more accurately exact punishment on CRIMINALS who use firearms in the commision of crimes?

5 years later, same question...

Knowing what you know now, if you had to do it all over again, what would you have done differently (if at all) with your long gun/shotgun/handgun selection?

Not all of us are capable of a "perfect response".  I am buying some of these personal alarms because I have several women/girls I need to feel safer about.  Lemme know what you think I value this boards expertise.:https://trysafepersonalalarm.com/buynowd3/salespage-safe.php?zero=8asti87t43y8iksyth4iuktyh874e5gy5&affId=CB771A3E&power=gsiou7gyf8iwastgf47&c1=us&c2=smartdisplay_po50&win=asda343aew1231231231&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIneGihb2I5gIVgyV_Ch2jIA4REAEYASAAEgJAUPD_BwE

I don't know if there is such a thing as a "perfect response," particularly when there are can be so many different factors.

I am DEFINITELY not a subject matter expert, but I wholeheartedly believe in Lt Col Jeff Cooper's philosophy that your mindset is your primary weapon.

In my opinion, possessing and knowing how to use accoutrement/tools is important.

However,  having the ability to proactively recognize and avoid potentially dangerous situations, in the first place, is just as, or maybe even more important.

There will certainly be times when you may not be able to see or avoid all potentially dangerous situations, so that's when the tools come in handy.

... and God forbid, but if you ever have to use those tools, you should absolutely have the training and the resolve to use everything at your disposal to put forth the best possible response, given the situation.

If I could offer a suggestion, LD1, I'd have those women/girls you need to feel safer about read Jeff Cooper's Principles of Personal Defense (super easy read, and free if you search online), then help them get stoked about
joining and continuing with some type of formal defensive training from professionals.

Love the reticle (EOtech-ish), brightness, and FOV on the Kahles K16i.

Disappointed that, when I dropped it on the scale, it weighs 17.8 oz instead of the 16.9 oz that it was advertised at.

Scalarworks mount (1.93") is also a bit heavier (5.89 oz) than what I thought the website was advertising, but upon review, I noted that the advertised weight pertains to the low mount.

Mount is awesome because it has a built-in leveling screw to decrease time involved with leveling the optic.

... more to come!  :shaka:

Allow me ...

§703-304  Use of force in self-protection.

https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol14_Ch0701-0853/HRS0703/HRS_0703-0304.htm

Take a look at the definition of the term, "claim of right."

Also, please see COMMENTARY ON §703-304, which states, in pertinent part:

  • The use of deadly force is also denied when the actor can avoid using it with complete safety by retreating, by surrendering possession of a thing to a person asserting a claim of right to it, or by complying with a demand that he refrain from taking an action which he has no legal duty to take.  In any of these cases, the Code may seem to be opting for cowardice.  However, it should be the strong principle of any criminal code to prevent death wherever possible.  To quote the Model Penal Code commentary,

It rests, of course, upon the view that protection of life has such a high place in a proper scheme of social values that the law cannot permit conduct which places life in jeopardy, when the necessity for doing so can be avoided by the sacrifice of the much smaller value that inheres in standing up to an aggression.

Further,

  • The Code also specifically requires surrendering possession of a thing when the attacker asserts a claim of right thereto.  Where a person offers deadly force unless another surrenders property to him, and claims a right to the property, it is certainly sound policy to save life and litigate the disputed ownership in court.  Naturally, however, this rule does not apply in cases of robbery, where the assailant can make no claim of right, and it is the purpose of the Code to permit deadly resistance to robbery if the conditions of subsection (2) are met.
