Strategies and Tactics / Fanny pack shotshell bag
« Last post by zippz on August 17, 2026, 08:57:48 PM »
For el cheapo shotgun carry, use a fanny pack to hold spare shotshells.  You won't loose shells if you have to run and roll around.

Rest of the video is good on economy shotgun, the Maverick 88 with cheapo accessories.  Maverick did well on the 500 shell test.  Cheap accessories all failed from the recoil though loctite may have prevented it.

Legal and Activism / Re: Thermal imaging device laws

I did more googling. Still unclear.. but I got this google AI response. I don’t know if accurate.

Yes, it is legal to own and use thermal optics for target shooting at an approved shooting range in Hawaii. While Hawaii heavily restricts or bans the use of thermal and night vision equipment for hunting, simple possession and non-hunting range use of thermal scopes or handheld thermal devices are not prohibited by state firearm laws.

General Discussion / CCW national stats poll
« Last post by zippz on August 17, 2026, 11:49:28 AM »
The Crime Prevention Research Center, headed by John Lott, did a poll on 1000 voters on how many carried a gun for self-defense.  15.7% carried all the time and 15.2% carried sometimes.  This was a surprising stat for me as it says 1/3rd of voters CCW which is very high.  The poll seems legit as it has about an equal number are democrat/republican voters polled.  This shows how much of a voice gun carrying voters have in elections.

Hawaii's 500,000 voters are not going to follow that number due to we have 1/3rd firearms ownership compared to the national average, mail in voring, and restrictive firearms and CCW permitting.  So instead of 150,000 voters CCWing, Id say 40,000 if we had constitutional carry and no sensitive places laws.  I don't know what rate the rest of the population would be at due to lower incomes and drug/criminal records, but I'd say the total demand would be 50,000 to 100,000.
