One of these.  Usually the LCP II tho  :shaka:

I think the 380 with the right load is adequate IMO.  I won't say its the best, but its where I wound up when choosing my caliber, comfort level and concealability.  I only carry mine with XTP's as they are easily found on the shelf here in UT and are one of the few loads with adequate penetration and have some expansion.  My daily carry is either a LCP or a LCP II because they are small, light, and I litteraly forget they are there in my kydex AIWB by concealment express.

Glock 29 in a Hill Peoples Gear Snubby when hiking tho

Sometime this week I'm going to call HPD and see what they say.  I'll let you guys know once I get an answer.   :shaka:

Not required to do anything for private sales.........

I swear I read somewhere that private sales needed to notify HPD upon selling a long gun??

I could be wrong.

Hey guys,

I'm moving soon and had a question.  I know I can call HPD, but I'm wondering if anyone has done this before or knows the answer.

I have a valid long gun permit. What if I decide to buy a rifle a day or two before I fly and bring the rifle with me.  In this case, would I not need to register it because I left within the allowed time frame to register?  No, the rifle would not come back to Hawaii as it is a permanent move.

Thanks

For supersonic 300blk: Hogdon Lil gun / 4227 / H110.  I never tried H110, but Lil gun gave the most velocity over 4227.

For subsonic 300blk: a pistol gas barrel and 1680 will make life easy.  I have a pistol gas barrel and couldn't get 4227 to cycle subsonic reliably without going supersonic YMMV.  :shaka:

You can change a keypad to a dial pretty easily.  My browning came with a SG keypad and I swapped it for a SG 6730.  I think my SG dial lock was about $70.  I would recommend a dial over keypad.  The SG keypad that came on my browning wouldn't always unlock on the 1st, 2nd or third time even with a fresh battery.  When I took out the keypad and looked at the little parts, the mechanism did not inspire confidence.  The dial lock was solid.

No pics cuz I left my ccw's at my house in Utah, but when I'm there

In summer tshirt and shorts weather - Ruger LCP in a soft IWB Don't Tread on Me holster

If wearing a jacket - Ruger LCP or Glock 42 or Sig 938 in Don Hume JIT holsters.  The LCP in a JIT at 4 o'clock could also be done with a loose tshirt but will print if moving / bending.  Sometimes I'll put the LCP in the JIT and throw it in  my jacket pocket if not wearing a belt.

Hiking or in the woods - Sig 938 (short hike) or Glock 29 in a JIT or Hill Peoples Gear snubby

I recently bought a LCP II but haven't put enough rounds through it to carry yet.  It will probably replace my LCP.  The trigger on the II is so much better.

Credit to those who can live with anything bigger than a LCP for IWB.  For me, even the G42 is too big for IWB when it comes to moving/bending/getting in and out of a vehicle and I've tried all kinds of IWB and hybrid holsters.

I love the JIT holsters small size / fit / simplicity / and OWB comfort.

Anyone know why Prime Sports stopped ffl transfers?  Or if they are going to start it back up? AFAIK they were the cheapest at $25

Firearms and Accessories / Re: AK47 - Threading Barrel Recommendations

probably the easiest way for a diy project would be the tap and die

http://www.cncwarrior.com/AK-47-14x1LH-Barrel-Threading-Kit-p/25145.htm

Or you could have a smith pull the barrel and lathe cut threads.  If you get a smith involved, you might as well fully pre ban it.  IIRC, romy gas blocks and front sights fit, double check that though.

I can't remember if you will need to replace the FSB for the spring / plunger or if the stock one is drilled for it already.  If you want to fully pre ban it, you would need to replace the gas block also as it has the bayo lug and hole for the cleaning rod.

IMHO, FEG Ak's are awesome.

For raw aluminum receiver's look up electro etching.  Doesn't work through the anodizing unless you strip the area u want to etch.
Super easy.
Hardest part was learning how to use the Cricut I borrowed to cut the stencil.  And use a old school battery charger.  New digital ones don't like to do this.

Yup. Amazon is awesome.  I've had a few things that never showed up and they either refunded me immediately or sent me another.
Brownells is another company that has always done right by me.  I ordered a barrel and it must have fell out of the box or something.  I called em up and they sent me another the next day.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: Safes: Digital vs Mechanical
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:49:35 PM »
Alot of keypad safes have SG locks on them and can be easily replaced with mechanical SG dial combo locks.  I replaced mine.  After seeing the digital mechanisms small parts, I'm glad I changed it.  Setting your own combo is easy too.

S&G 6730 runs about 80 bucks

I also have AK's in the three calibers KK mentioned, but my 5.56 AK's are my favorite to shoot with 7.62 being least favorite.  Not only because I reload, but they are just more fun to shoot IMO.
It is noticeably easier for me to shoot quickly and stay on target with the two smaller rounds.
I also just came back from the mainland and my local shop there had a few brands of 5.45 stacked up on the floor for cheap.  I think most Hawaii shops just don't have an interest in stocking the 5.45 and the ones that do, don't buy enough to make the price cheap for us.
Luckily I bought my 5.45 and 5.56 AK stuff years ago when mags were way cheaper.  If I were getting in the AK game now, I'd go with 7.62 due to cost and that it is going to get harder to find anything this year.

Reviews / Re: anyone own the ruger precision rifle?
« on: February 25, 2016, 04:44:41 PM »
I have the 308.  Only shot it once to sight it in at koko head and it was shooting tighter groups that day than my Howa 1500 setup (sub moa when I do my part) with my 168gr GMM clone reloads.
Overall I like it and I think Ruger did a good job at the price it is sold for.
You may see many posts of how folks have had off center handguards, but mine were straight.
The stock safety selector is a loose, rattling, POS.  It's bad enough that I was like "WTF Ruger!"  I switched it out with a regular AR selector I had laying around and it fit better.  If you do swap out the selector, make sure you use one with the round barrel type profile like the kind in a standard mil-spec kit.  The seekins triangle shape wont work well.  It still has some play but not as bad as the stock one.  There is no detent holding pressure on it like an AR so it is what it is.
Magpul AR10 mags fit fine and are the only ones I've tried.
The action works smoothly. No complaints
I can't exactly remember details on the trigger.  I want to say it wasn't as clean out of the box as the Timney in the 1500, but I know it wasn't terrible and will smooth out with more pulls.
Flipping the cheek rest around gave the most comfortable fit for me.
The folding stock locks up tight and the stock adjustments lock down with no wiggle.  I may or may not change the stock out down the road.  If I do, it will be for looks, as the original works as it should.
Other mods are a magpul grip, accu shot monopod, harris bipod, MI 3 chamber muzzle brake.
Future plans are to put better glass on it (currently has a Falcon Menace 4-14 FFP that is so-so) and upgrade the plastic bolt shroud.
Wish I had more trigger time behind it to give you guys more.  :shaka:

I went this morning and the line wasn't moving AT ALL.  Not one person registering or applying got processed in the 45 min I stood in line.  Cop said they had a new paperless system starting today and were having glitches.  I said F*ck it and walked out.  I'll wait for them to get their shit together and try again in a couple weeks.

I use a laserlyte boresighter at home first. Super easy.  I'd buy it again for the time / ammo / frame damage it saves at the range.
