I just mixed up some Ed's Red last week.  It works well as a dedicated cleaner, but its not a "clp".  I didn't use the lanolin, since I didn't know where to find it on island.  If you buy everything new from the hardware store, it comes out to about 30 bucks a gallon.

Its one part acetone, one part mineral spirits, one part ATF fuild (dexron III), one part k1 kerosene. I just mix a pint at a time in a mason jar, since I don't really need a whole gallon of the stuff sitting around.

For oil, I'll switch up what I use depending what I have laying around. I like to keep CLP in my range bag, and I have about 1/3 left of a big can of ballistol I've been using this last year. I have used mobile-1 10w-30 or 5w-20 in the past as well.  It works just fine.

I also like to use white lithium grease on the slides of my pistol, and the high wear spots on my BCG for my AR-15.  Just the cheap automotive store stuff that's like 5 bucks for a 1lb tub.
