Buy.

I would at least buy the AR. $500 is a lot of money and in my tiny brain it would make some sense that it would be better to train on the weapon you will be using later on. The pistol might be a good idea but it seems likely you could train on one of theirs and if you like it enough buy one later. With AR prices coming down fast it seems you could work up a good deal pretty fast. There's a guy on here selling a AR for 12-1300 cant remember which but its got a BCM upper and I think a LMT lower. Don't quote me on the lower but BCM is top notch. Just my thoughts. Met you btw down at HPD few weeks back.

I just checked on the BCM ad, looks like he doesnt have a stock for it. Theres another guy whos been trying to get rid if a LWRC for awhile, $1600 I think. Those are great piston guns.

Scheduled to take the ESI Security Specialist course in March, and possibly the PSD course next fall.
Should I just purchase my own weapon systems or rent theirs?
I was hoping I could just bring my AK and one of my pistols, but the calibers are specific: 9mm or .40 for pistol, .223 for rifle. To rent, I think its $150 for the pistol and $500 for the rifle.
Don't tell me there's nobody on this firearm forum willing to lend you an AR! :wtf:
I'm sure limoncello could grease the skids a bit, too!!

The LWRC's kick ass. They shoot smooth. Don't own one but shot a couple.
Hell I'll sell you my LMT upper with a CMMG lower ( with nice trigger ) for $550 plus your Biden Double Barrel of Justice. :shaka: ( and maybe some limoncello )

LMT's at least as good as BCM. BCM actually sells them on their website.

I own 3 AR's. And if the guy were a close buddy I trusted, I'd let him pick one in an instant. I would trust if anything happened to it, he would make it right.
So, all kidding aside, he's starting $500 down. If the loaner need $250 to fix anything broken, Q is still $250 ahead!

M&P Sport is a decent price range, but no port cover or forward assist. Will you need them? Most times not, but for PSD course, might as well get as close to Mil-Spec as you can find. Should be able to get a Colt, BCM or similar quality for around $1200 or so.

I heard that it actually held up quite well to many torture tests even though it didn't have the dust cover. Not too worried about the forward assist, as I could always just push on the concave portion of the bolt if need be.
Ya. I've heard mostly good reports on the M&P Sport.
I use the FA when doing the "pull CH back" method of chamber check. There are other ways to do that thought. Other than that, I've never had to use the FA did to a bolt not going back into battery due to dirty chamber.
And you could always upgrade the upper later. $500 rent for a gun is a lot.

I definitely would not rent an AR for $500 that's retarded.
Just buy a $700 M&P sport and sell it for $100 less than you paid for it after your class.
Then you "rented" it for $100.
Just my 2 cents
Shoot if you're hell bent on blowing $500, I'll rent you one of my AK's for $499

TOUCHE.
It just pisses me off that they don't allow AKs; no one uses ARs where I plan to use my new certification.
They do make 223 chambered AK's

For $700?
I have one...
-
Allow me to correct my original statement :
its $560 for rifle AND pistol when we have range time.
-
I can rent you and AR for $498. Haha. J/K.
Yeah, I do the top round chamber check method as well, but sometimes I forget which side the top round was on. Doh. And it messed up too because the USGI mags that I have with Magpul followers have the follower round on the opposite side than the USGI mags with the tan or green followers.

I have one...
Sell it.............
