Title: 1911 - Les Baer or Springfield Armory TRP?
Post by: Frog on August 14, 2013, 08:18:25 PM
So I'm looking at purchasing a 1911 soon and was looking at the Springfield TRP Operator.  Did some research and lots of people saying get the Les Baer which is hand fitted for a few hundred more.  Anyone have a Les Baer 1911 Premier II?  What are your thoughts about it versus the TRP?  Anyone also know what the wait time in ordering a Les Baer?  I'm assuming OGC could order it for me.

I shoot a Les Baer DCM. I shoot it because it conforms to the service pistol rules for CMP  and specific military matches.
Choose the gun that meets your shooting needs.

The Les Baer is more refined than the Springfield. The best analogy is comparing a Toyota to a Lexus.

Just talked to the people at Les Baer a couple days ago and they said the average wait time for a gun ordered is between 10-14 months.

From what I have heard and read, Springfield Armory's CS is hard to beat.
Again, no first hand experience, but Les Baer's, not so much.

If all is good, a Les Baer for sure.

I keep going back and forth on a UTC.

Do you feel lucky?

Good luck with your decision.

It's based on real Caspian parts.  The kid (Dustin Bonar) who makes it is supposedly pretty good.  His dad had worked at Novak for a number of years and taught him the trade.
