Hi gang,
My driver side power window on my 2008ToyotaTacoma goes only half way down and stops. Anybody had this problem? Is the motor the problem? Is it easy to change the motor?
Mahalo!

I would think if it was your motor, it wouldn't move at all.
I tried googling your symptom and this is the explanation I found. I guess it is worth a look.
Usually when a power window goes up and/or down, BUT sticks in between, the cause will be found to be that one or more of the window guide "channels" has become loose [one or more of the securing nuts has loosened], allowing the channel to shift position as the window moves.
The "fix" is to remove the door cover panel in order to access the window mechanism inside the door. Then manually try to move the guide channels. The channels that are tight [immovable] are OK.
The loose channel will need to be held in proper alignment while the securing nut is tightened.

Thanks sound wave....i'll try that :shaka:

Does your window seem loose in the regulator track? Toyotas have breakage issues with the plastic tab on the window that attaches to the regulator track. Like mentioned u need to take off the door panel and inspect.

Thanks...I guess, gotta check that too! Now, I just gotta get my butt going to try an take the panel off to see what is really going on inside...hopefully, not that hard. I have not done it before. I gotta do more google searches..lol

I work at a shop and see this a lot. Most time it's the motor about to give out. I just fix tacomas this month with the same prob. Does it go up or down half way then stop and if you wait a little then goes all the way? What year is your truck?

It goes up and down, at half way down stops....it does not go down all the way after, just stays down half way...2008 toy tacoma extra cab..Thanks nu.remix! :shaka:

Sorry I just read it again. I saw the year. Btw it's not that hard to change. And I would take off the door panel first so you can watch how everything is moving smoothly

So, do I just change the motor or the whole regulator assembly?...thanks again.

More than likely the motor will come with the regulator/cable assy. When I changed my mom's regulator cuz the window fell out (2001 Grand Caravan) the NAPA guy said I can buy just the regulator for like $90 or get regulator w/ motor for $110. Since you're in there I would just change the motor IF it adds only like $20 to the bottom line.
