Some big sh*t befalls you and now you only have money to get ONE HANDGUN and ONE RIFLE (or longgun).
These guns will have to last you "forever." (OK not really forever but say 20 years).
What will you decide?
(Let's not worry about purpose; if you hunt, they will have to do for hunting; if you are only worried about home defense, they will have to serve that purpose).
For me, Glock 17 + AR-15.

Hmm tough one...
Scar 17 + XD 45

Something just occurred to me. If the Glock guys here (like me) picked the Glock 19 instead of the 17, we can use both 17 and 19 mags.... but anyway, I prefer the slightly longer sight radius on the 17.
Seems like AR and AK are popular. No surprise.

Colt 1911-Colt Car15
Buy American!
-
S&W M&P45 and an AR
-
looks like it's basically 9mm + 45, and .223 + x39. Again, not a huge surprise.
-
No love for the 308?
-
Maybe as a 3rd gun, especially bolt. But for 2 guns, I'd go with .223 and then the handgun caliber.

Springfield M1A 308 Win & HK45

unquestionably a 5 inch 1911 in 45acp
For a rifle I guess AR10 with a longer target barrel, my ar15 is plenty fun to shoot and versatile but the .223 just doesn't have the balls to do everything a rifle should be able to do.

AR-15 - HK USP 40 S&W :shaka:

Glock 17 and a AK-47.
If I'm able to swap out the uppers to shoot multiple calibers, then an AR15 instead of the AK.

Springfield XD9
FNAR .308

Remington 11-87

I'd go for something that ammo was most plentiful... any firearm that is reliable and can shoot the plentiful ammo, really, that would probably be the best bet.

In that case...

Steyr Aug A3 w/ 1-4 power Accupoint and offset RMR, and a suppressed M&P Pro Series CORE in .40s&w.

i only have experience with my Sig 556 and my CZ75, so i'll pick those.
both are overly built, solid steel tools.

I'll go with a suppressed VEPR AK (7.62x39)
And a suppressed FNP tactical 45

Interesting choices! :-)
By the way, these are not necessarily the ones you already have.
That is, you are not "saving" the guns you have, but you are buying brand new (with your theoretical money).
Sure, some folks are adding all sorts of after-market accessories and mods, optics, etc. but the interest is in the basic platform(s).
To liven things up a bit, how about we modify the question, and ask you also to PRIORITIZE them.
For example, in my case, with the Glock 17 and the AR-15, if I had to pick only ONE out of the two, I would pick the Glock 17.
The handgun is definitely not as powerful but it is handy and more portable.

If that's the case, it would still be a G17 and Mosin.
If I could pick 3, I'd throw in an AK.
I could only pick one, it would be a Mosin.
As I recently saw in a documentary, "Not the prettiest gun, but it is virtually indestructible."

browning buckmark target
Sig Sauer ssg 3000

Nice, I like the buckmark choice.
I don't have one but always wanted to get one.
