Title: Pelican 1720 or 1750 RIfle Case Color?
Post by: aNoyPi808 on October 09, 2013, 04:22:48 PM
Owners of this popular rifle case, Just wondering how the colors hold up to normal use... Black or Desert Tan or OD Green? Im traveling back home to Hawaii and need to purchase one. When back home looking to use as transport to the range. Any thoughts on how one color shows the dirt or damage more than the other colors? Thanks

Thanks @new guy for the response!  :shaka:  I know it would be impossible to avoid these type of baggage handlers...  :shake:

I vote for black, though I think it all boils down to whichever color case YOU like best.... ultimately, you're the one who is going to be hauling it around.  ;D

Also, I personally wouldn't worry too much about outward appearances of the case.

More important to me would be how well the case accomplishes its stated purpose of keeping the contents safe/secure/clean/dry/etc.

Finally, despite any of our best efforts to keep our luggage/cases as pristine as possible, we will all, invariably run into these types of baggage handlers:

I have the tan one. Wish I had OD just because I love that color, but I couldn't find it in that color off Amazon. Its got a couple small scuffs here and there from stuffing it into my jeep but considering there is around 4 grand inside I try not to abuse it too much.  I have some other pelican cases in black and also an orange one. I'd say they all hold up equally well. Black will probably hide the best since it is black.

If you are just looking to stuff an AR type rifle in there get the 1720. The 1750 is a big case, with a rifle and a shotgun in mine it weighs about 50 lbs and quite honestly kind of a chore to lug around.

I like the OD color too and found it locally here but can not justify the price since I can get free two day shipping from Amazon while im here on the mainland. Thanks for the input!  :shaka:
