Title: Boy shot in CA over replica gun

sad.
Notice that the media no longer refers to "toy guns" anymore. I can only imagine the pending legislation on top of existing ones.

Waiting to hear how new "common sense gun laws" are going to prevent cops from shooting a 13-year-old carrying a toy/replica/model gun.

if you don't drop the toy gun when a cop has his gun drawn on you, you deserve to get shot!  lets face it, this kid would not have made it in the real world.

If only it had been his replica gun and not a friend's he was returning.  Then, maybe he and his parents would have the experience to know not to walk down the street with something like this in his hand.

If only he and his parents were familiar enough with local gun laws to have learned carrying an uncased rifle outside is not legal, and that a replica should be treated the same.

My daughter's BF shoots pellet guns.  His AR-15 replica is the same size, color, and weight as my COLT AR.  When he leaves the house with it, the rifle and any other guns he carries are cased as if they were the real thing.

Without the case, only the orange muzzle tip signals it isn't real.

that's not the kind of mindset we should be having.  Maybe if he was an adult, you could say that.  But he was 13 years old.  Kids at that age don't realize the reality of the situation.  They've been sheltered their whole lives and have yet to experience the real world and can't comprehend the fact the police don't know it's a fake rifle.  In his mind, he knows it's fake, so he doesn't understand why they're getting all bent out of shape....then he makes the wrong move of pointing the muzzle towards them and paid for it with his life.

This should be a lesson to PARENTS to teach their kids about firearms.  When i was growing up my parents didn't teach me much of anything.  One of the few things that my dad DID teach me though.....was never point a gun...even a toy gun at anyone.  I was taught this from him even though he wasn't a gun guy.

Another thing that I see a lot of airsoft guys do is paint the orange tip black, which makes it harder to determine if it's real or not.

IMHO, msm is at fault on this, with the demonizing of everything gun.  Assault rifle this, assault weapon that, with no real push to find the real causes of all these people snapping out.  All the weird drugs and everyone going postal for unknown reasons, there must be a common denominator.

It is the same as when an accident involves a SUV, or a bike rider crashes with no helmet,  they are sure to mention it, trying to sway an opinion.

Before, could ride bike all around with my pellet gun strapped to my back and go hunting in the cane fields.  And I am not tooo old.  Wouldn't even think a police officer would shoot first, ask questions later. Real sad are the state of things.  :(
