With the exception of the manager embarrassing his employes, I felt like I was in mainland gun store!
The "tacticool" store in the front of the gun shop was nice as well.
Too bad they did not have an indoor range like the one near the mall.
Some of the employees look like former military folks.
Nice shop overall!

I agree, cut Gus some slack, he's very helpful, like all their salesmen

I have a feeling at this stage, if Carter DIDN'T give all his employees grief, they would think he didn't like them anymore!
Yes, it is embarrassing to ME to hear some of the comments, but I'm kinda sensitive, witnessing someone dressed down in front of customers. I'll get over it! >:D

Guns are serious shit. I'd expect to get dressed down if i f'd up somehow.

I have had good experiences. Fair and upfront.

Not sure what that means, but I've been in a lot of mainland gun shops and they have more than their share of boneheads.
In fact several we downright hillbilly creepy. Most (not all) of the shops here are pretty good.

I should have been more specific. It was like walking into Cabella's, Scottsdale Gun Club, or GT Distributors. Good solid products, the shop was clean, and no windows (privacy). No, I am not referring to "hillbilly" junction gun stores in located in the South. LOL

Well, guns are just tools. Your mindset and how you react under stress is serious shit!

You certainly get it. Unfortunately we have all been there with a supervisor who manages their people in this fashion. It's a shame. It just boils down to business. I was hoping not to make a snap judgement on the manager. It was just an observation and I am confidant that his employees have thick skin. There are a lot of egos in the gun industry. OGC is not the exception. The owner just runs a tight ship. There is a lot of competition on the island regarding gun sales and I am sure they are using every means possible to include social media, word of mouth, and repeat business in order to make money. Which reminds me...I need to look at Yelp

Haha this gave me a good laugh because I witnessed something similar first time I walked into OGC:
Carter to Me: *big smile* "How was everything today? Glad you found what you were looking for."
2 seconds later, Carter to Employee: *angry face* "NO THAT'S WRONG!!! WHAT THE %@$# ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!"
Carter back to Me: *big smile* I'm sorry about that. You said debit? Okay, pin number whenever you're ready."

I've been in OGC and have seen Carter ream out his employees over a mistake, which I have no problem with. This is a gun store, not some effete high end boutique selling perfume and leather goods.

The owner just runs a great shop! Hope to stop by in the future.

I was surprised at how much 9mm bulk was going for. Very close to mainland prices for sure.

OGC.... Carter is STRAIGHT UP!

And Eugene ! :shaka:

Yep, and Eugene!

I've been an OGC customer for years now, but I repeatedly get treated like shit when I go there. I understand the egos, the cursing, giving employees shit, etc, IT IS a gun shop, however I have on multiple occasions felt like they talk down to customers!
I bought a gun from them, then months later was basically made fun of by an employee for buying that gun (it was a SIG, I'll leave it at that). They didn't have any reservations when I bought it off them. This was the last straw, I'll give my money to someone else who appreciates repeat customers.

Man sometimes I go in there just to see Carter give the guys rash! You gotta look at it this way. The guys still choose to work there. Carter definately is doing something right. A gun shop is not immune to the occassional mishap. It's still customer service. Think about it like this, how many times in your own job, whatever it might be, did you go through the motions or not give it an effort? I'm not trying to make excuses for any bad experiences you might have had but the shooting community is a niche community especially if your going to a gun store vs say sports authority.
With all of that said, all of the guys have treated me with respect and have never try to "push" a sale on me. I'd even say most of the time they go above and beyond in customer service.

I've personally heard Carter give some guys (his guys) shit........but here's the thing that maybe others didn't hear. He was giving said person some shit because what he was saying was not correct and also the customer's question he couldn't answer Carter felt he should have. Basically it's because Carter want's a certain level of professionalism as far as knowledge and service. Some don't care about his style. I'm probably more immune to it because it's nothing compared to the stuff I've been exposed to in construction.

I agree at least Carter doesnt BS on boards. I respect that.

It's nice to have a gun shop like OGC here on Oahu.

The 2 weeks they are closed seems like eternity, I wish it were the 3rd already! :grrr:
