Alright fellow shooters dec 28 th will be carbine training. We have redone the curriculum to facilitate the wide array of participants. So here it goes;
Range set up at 730 am / sign in registration and waivers
101 new shooters instruction 8 am -845am
Regular Instructional training from 9am - 12pm
Free shoot 12noon - 150pm
Range sweep 150pm -2pm
Closed range instruction 2pm - 4pm
These new format is to facilitate the growth of the organization and the wide variety of skill levels that attend. Now we are all able to advance our skills whether it be 101 or advanced we can all learn.
Re: HDF Range Days
good day all so here is the up coming plans for range day on sat dec 28th. Starting off with the sign in, waivers and fees. everyone must sign in and sign waivers prior to shooting. Everyone! At this time will pay "match fees" collected pior to shooting. Fee schedule as follows HDF current members "match fee" is $10.00. As For non-members its $20.00 without joininig the HDF, Or they will be encouraged to join the HDF at this time @ $25.00 for membership and then it would be $10.00 for the day total $35.00 so take advantage of this now.

talked to kanoa this past wednesday and he recommended bringing 400 rnds of rifle. this might sound alot but I'm sure we wont be shooting that much. Its good to bring extra rnds anyways.

FP its all relative to the day you talking about 6 - 8 hours of constant shooting just to put it in perspective for those to comprehend.

Ooo.. I'll be able to make this one if the stork hasn't arrived yet.
LOL, 400 rounds... Can I bring a 22LR carbine?

yes although this has been asked before. So bottom line is this training time is valuable and we recommend using the firearm you would most likely use in the real situation. Now if you came to the range day frequently then ok yea use the .22 but if you don't then operating your actual equipment so that you benefit 100% would be my recommendation. 2nd opinion is maybe warm up with the .22 then switch to operating your actual equipment. Jmho

I'll be there with a +1.

.

interested. What kind of equipment should I bring. I'm coming from a HP background but I could use some of my Army issued stuff to train.
-
Suggestion:
Posted sign "Closed Range Event - No Photograph/Video"
for whatever good it can do us against outsiders, at least was there.

well lets see on days that we train carbine a functional sling, mag pouches, spare mags and a system to mount them to ( belt or chest rig). Keep in mind we do some dynamic drills which require low position and running. So equipment functionality is vital can't have your mags flying out when running or recovering from prone. Pistol your gonna need a holster one that is secure and unobstructed by clothing, mag pouches

I may do this since I have an M&P 15-22 which is almost like my AR-15. Thank you for the suggestion.

See, as long as you keep saying "carbine," I'll keep coming back!

Not to get too side tracked but I was wondering if this store was still active.
http://www.hawaiidefensefoundation.org/store/apparel/ (http://www.hawaiidefensefoundation.org/store/apparel/)
I wanted to buy a HDF t-shirt and googled it and got this link. I was about to order but noticed this store is not directly linked on the HDF website (if it is I can't find it).

DL and/or Mac:
Any word if they are going to allow HDF to expand into action bay 2?
I guess we won't have word on the 2014 schedule till January so we won't know till then but we submitted for the last Saturday of each month. So even if we get the schedule late we still should be ready to roll. As for the action bay 2 we did ask if we could get it if available. Just a fyi there are 2 new organizations submitted bay request don't know what organization they are as of yet.

In years past, sometimes the schedule has been quite late coming out. I recall one year running LIFE classes and hosting funshoots for 2 months, and other clubs doing their business, all "on faith" until the schedule finally showed up in March.

I wonder if these 'organizations' have been able to procure 40+ members on range days as the great DL and mighty macsak have been able to do! :worship:
 thanks Q it's a team effort and thanks to all of these guys too! Pic of our 40+ attendees at Hdf range day

ok everyone here are the tough decision for this months HDF range day. There is going to be a 30 participant limit on the 9am - noon class. its based on first come basis with HDF members having priority over non members. we fear that due to range closure we might be overwhelmed with participants and being limited on space and qualified personnel for safety reasons.*** Important info**** this limit DOES NOT apply to the 101 class held at 8am-845 and Free range time at 12noon. we are working on a new format to facilitate the higher attendance and different skill levels of shooters so please bear with us. thanks everyone for being a part of this!

How are you signing the 30? First come at the range or via online responses? Either way, sign me up and I'll be there early :shaka:

What about the free shoot portion?

per the range day staff,
free shoot is on, unlimited participation in terms of numbers
can shoot anything that is legal in HI, but don't shoot up our target stands
free shoot will be approximately 12 noon to 2 pm
