bottom line is...
mike muramoto has monday and tuesday off
the parks director has been communicating with him regularly because of the emergency repairs
she told me she plans to speak to him tomorrow regarding what he needs and what we can do
i told her that we have AT LEAST 3-4 dozen people committed, including 8-10 welders and their equipment, plus painting and lawn equipment
and that people are SCREAMING at me in eagerness to make this happen
and that we have done this on only 2 days of organization
i told her to get me water and electrical access, a dumpster, and PERMISSION we can get it done
also went over her head a bit and talked to the mayor about what we are trying to do
he gave me his card and told me to keep him informed
so we are still in a holding pattern
but we should hear soon
i have people working behind the scenes
if anyone is willing to take the point on something let me know
so far we have filled the jobs of
1 organizer
2 planning/logistics
3 troubleshooter/"luna"
4 welding coordinators
5 lead handyman
6 promoter/press relations
7 flyers/distribution
stay tuned for updates...

forgot some details
she started scribbling furiously when i told her that members of our forum suggested moving the benches back rather than extending the brow
i told her it would save time and money
i told her that people who are shooting standing could move back too
she was wondering about space behind the benches like i talked about earlier
they will study this- apparently not something they considered- great job guys!
also was taking notes when i told her our people are investigating a community development corporation or adopt-a-park
she immediately said, "adopt-a-park is the way to go"
edster asked her about restoring shooting past 100 yards
she said that's something they will have to look into after they get the emergency fixes in place
overall, it was a great night
knudsen didn't get a word in at all
city seems very receptive to our needs/concerns
and hopefully will work with us in the future...

i thought luna was more of an overseer/foreman type gig?
anyway im down on a monday or tuesday with at least a weeks notice so i can make some time.
i was rewatching breaking bad and had an idea about using an electric magnet for steel case cleanup.. that way you can turn it off and drop whatevers clinging to it into a bucket or whatever. ive read with a strong enough magnet it can also pick up the primers in a brass casing. just a thought, raking will take forever and a day.

believe me, the "luna" i chose will be troubleshooter/overseer/foreman and more
>:D
we may attempt to rake shells if we have extra time/manpower
but i am not sure that is a priority at this point

one other thing
parks director said specifically we cannot add anything new, especially the roof, due to liability
i told her we would never even think of doing that
so i am thinking any carpentry is out, unless mike wants something built specifically
oh wait, i forgot
she said we can repair anything that is existing
hmm, we just have to see what their work list is

I think I saw some barricades that were on the side that need some fixing. =p You know.. in that field over there.

i think some of the work crews may be spending some time "cleaning up" the action bays

Mac,
I know Mike is wanting the range to be level, which is standard practice for most 'modernized' ranges. Can you confirm if the mayor and the C&C are planning on filling the entire range to make it level with the shooting line? Best to find this out before we start putting in new target stands and what not.
q
we are not putting in new target stands or anything like that
we are helping the range out in whatever way they deem necessary
including making target stands
the city and their engineers are figuring out what to do and how to do it
i have the ear of the parks director, and she has been looking in to our "suggestions"
but we have no business actually doing anything downrange other than cleaning up
i can ask if they are making it level
it would save us the up and down hike, and maybe they could figure out a way to prevent the stream when it rains
mahalo for your input, q
you are always thinking
