I'm trying to put together a belt rig with the purpose of an all-around general use (range day, IPSC, home defense).
I tried looking at a war belt rig (HSGI, TT, Condor, etc) but don't really like it because I think it's too bulky and tactical. I am thinking of something more low profile.
I found these searching the web:
1. Jones Tactical EveryDay Belt (belt rig with an outside belt that velcros to an inside belt)
http://jonestactical.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=9 (http://jonestactical.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7&Itemid=9)
2. Raven Concealment Moduloader Frames (connects a taco pouch to a regular belt)
http://www.ravenconcealment.com/quick-ship-products/modu-loader-system/moduloader-frames (http://www.ravenconcealment.com/quick-ship-products/modu-loader-system/moduloader-frames)
Have any of you tried either of these or found anything else better?
Thanks! :shaka:

The Jones belt is a very good belt. I also like the DSG Arms belt. I am still running my USGG contractor inner / outer belt combo as it is OD, however I don't like that the hook is on the inner belt. The Jones and DSG have the loop on the inner belt, much better. I also run taco rifle and pistol mags on the raven modular frames. The taco's fit various mag types and stay put when used with the inner and outer belt set ups. It is also easy to quickly adjust loadouts on the belt with the taco / modular frame combo. I also run Safariland holsters as a default on a G-Code system to swap out various holsters / pistol combos as needed. The entire set up is very modular. War belts are slowly going the way of the dinosaur.
ETA - Here is the set up.

Thanks Surf! That's exactly what I was looking for. It's nice to see a visual to the concept.

So for the belt, the options for an inside velcro / outside cobra buckle belt combo are the Jones Tactical or the DSG Arms Belts.

I was looking at the Ares Armor Keeper Belt which seems to be a stronger inner belt. However, it's outer Micro Belt looks kinda bulky. I wonder if it's possible to mix the Ares Armor Keeper Belt with the Jones Tactical or DSG Arms outer belt.

The Raven Concealment Moduloaders look ideal for securing the HSGI Taco Pouches to the outer belt.

The G-Code holsters look like a great idea. I'll have to look it up. Initial impression is that the XST would be better for the added thumb retention even though it looks bulkier.

Surf, Is there anything particularly better about the Safariland holsters than the G-Code ones? Also, any preference between the G-Code OSH vs XST holsters?

This one looks nice but is not as flexible or modular and has a $500 price tag.

I got the Modu loader system and it's easy and simple. If you're going to constantly change pouches though it's more work than other systems because you have to deal with the screws that hold the frame to the pouches. Otherwise it's simple, clean, and really low profile.

No, sorry haven't tried them. I am so used to wearing the velcro under belt as my stand alone daily use belt, that my pouches etc stay mounted on the outer belt seen above. So when I shoot I just strap on the outer belt. I will say that the taco pouch above with the flashlight in it is a single taco on a single modular and I might often slip it off to carry one spare mag if I am concealed. The modular rig is nice in that it makes it easy to change out the taco's for various set ups.

IMO, the Safariland holsters are much higher quality materials and mechanisms. I tend to run the ALS set ups but the ALS / SLS set ups are great also. The Safariland holsters also have a nice lining. Not saying that the G-Code holsters are bad, because I don't think they are, but I am a bit skeptical of the spring loaded set up in their XST, plus it is bulky. I think the casual user would be OK, but I would have to run the set up under hard use for a long period of time to determine the durability of the hood system.

I will note that I do have kydex mag pouches for both pistol and rifle mags. The downside which can be seen, is that the rifle mags especially take up A LOT of space on the belt. Not my thing. I don't like having the hard mags or load systems in the small of my back.

My problem with the XST is that I have to use this strange ass thumb in a different direction grip approach on it. It's like their release button is kicked back an inch or so in the wrong direction. I do not like those holsters. That said, on their non-retention holsters I have found them to be pretty nice.
I can't say that I am a fan of how the cowl is setup for the G-Code pistol w/ light holsters. The Incog holster feels really nice as well for IWB carry. As for the G-Code RTI wheel, man that thing has got to be one of gods greatest gifts to gun owners imo -- they are just utterly fantastic. For a trainer, being able to swap out holsters / guns for people was so nice!
As a side note, and I have said it multiple times - HSGI taco pouches are, in my opinion, the probably the best magazines pouches on the market. Love those things! In fact, I just bought my dad some of those as his christmas present (he's a mechanic) to hold his gerber / flashlight in.
To answer the question on the G-Code holsters, I have run through a few classes Carbine / Handgun courses and never had a problem with retention. Grant it, also, that this is a static range so we are not climbing or throwing our legs in the air to get over an object (wall etc.). My gun has never slipped out. I do have some concerns that after I added some deck taping to the top of my slide to aid my ability in clearing one handed malfunctions that I may have worn away some of the holster in top slide area of the interior, however, still no problems.

Surf do you have any of your magazines and stuff on RTI wheels so that you could modify the load there or swap out? And what benefits have you seen with the ranger plates?

No I have not tried the accessories on the RTI wheel. With the modular frames it is just as easy to slip the pouches on and off. As for the ranger plates they have some small advantages. I use it as a monopod when prone and like the extra bit of height and a nice contact grip on all surfaces. I also became accustomed to getting my pinkie finger firmly wrapped around in the crook area of the ranger plate when pulling them from my mag pouches. Especially helps with the higher tension pouches like the Eagle FB on my rig above. I need that tight fitment of the mag that the FB provides in order to retain the mag as it is horizontal. This horizontal mag on my belt is my primary reload position and is extremely ergonomic and fast. The Ranger plate just gives me a more positive draw of the mag. With the quantity of training that I go through I also like the extra cushion that the ranger plates give the mags when ejecting them. I tend to stay oriented vertical with the rifle when ejecting the mags and they fall straight on the base of the mag. I do not use pmags and I used to tell Travis H. that he came up with the entire goofy chamber check and quick snapping of the weapon as an excuse because he needed to get them damn pmags to eject. ;)
