AK-47 wood stock refinish work final result. Red Mahogany Minwax base coat plus 5 coats Scarlet Rit Dye powder strained through coffee filter with Vodka & about 5 small drops of acetone, a tiny amount required to break down the salt crystals containing the dye. Mix red dye with semi gloss, apply 5 coats, dry and smooth out each coat layer with 0000 steel wool. Finished with 2 sprayed on coats of Glossy polyurethane. [Original WASR Romainian buttstock, replacement Ironwood upper & lower handguard and grip.]
Let me know what you think of the final result! Drying each coat completely took forever in Hawaii humidity!
Happy Holidays & New Year! :shaka:
