Title: Spotting Scopes?
Post by: BLKDRGN on January 04, 2014, 10:18:19 AM
I am looking for a spotting scope that can do at least a 1000 yards. I was looking at the Leupold Kenai HD 25-60 x 80mm. The price just dropped $100 so it's $789.99. Is this scope much better and worth the extra compared to the Leupold SX-1 Ventana 20-60 x 80mm? Are there any other brands/models that is better with a $800 budget?

Kowa, Leica at least an 80mm obj.
When you are talking about distances like that the size of the objective is important. You can all the magnification you want but if the image is distorted or dark, it won't matter.

Are you looking for a scope that can see 30 cal bullet holes on paper targets at 1000 yards?

Are you trying to watch trace and splash on steel at 1000 yards?

Are you just perving on neighbors?

You need to be more specific on what you want to do. I can see Diamond Head without a scope from 20 miles away.
