Wife will not allow it, does not want salt all over the place.

Now why would she think there would be that much mayhem?

I have two of these.  one at home and one in the car.  They work really well and are a lot of fun.  Indoors?  Yep, use mine on everything that fly's and crawls. Buddy of mine sold a bunch at the last gun show.  I think he is all sold out now.  They are available here: http://bugasalt.com/order/ (http://bugasalt.com/order/)

Make sure not to shoot it over your neighbor's fence, might hit his cat or something!

Used to have a lot of problems with flies around here because of the horse pastures surrounding the building.

I found a spray bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol works pretty good, no residue, no toxic chemicals.

Catch 'em in midair, it usually knocks them down so you can pick them up with a tissue and squoosh 'em to death.

Sneaking up behind them and zotting them with a dense spray incapacitates them so you can pick them up with a tissue and squoosh 'em to death.  In addition, this kind of stealth shot also sterilizes the area they've just been walking on.

And the bottle of isopropyl is the pistol grip.

Brah, the pistol grip sprayer is illegal in Hawaii per HRS: 134-8a2 subsection 22-g

Does it work on centipedes?

Good idea on the 91% alcohol, I guess I should use that instead of the chlorinated Brakleen cans, LOL!

Kamaainas,

Be VERY careful where you spray your HIGHLY FLAMMABLE ALCOHOL

I am thinking, electrical cabling and connections.... those very hot power supplies... vent intakes on your PCs, TV, etc...

The gun is pretty cool.  Its made of plastic and pot metal.  I knocked out a few flies the other day.  Pretty fun, but you got to be kind of close.

Oh, like regular bug sprays aren't flammable, too.  And while isopropyl is "toxic," in the sense that you don't want to drink it, it's benign enough that you put it on your skin.  That's why it's called "rubbing alcohol."

It's also a good chrome (faucets, 'fridge handles, the like) cleaner and a moderately good glass cleaner.  I've been told that faucet and 'fridge handles are the germiest places in the house.

Yes, while it does require "notable" safety precautions and it's rather spectacular if you hold a lighter in the spray, I've used it around the house in spray bottles for over 20 years with no KBs.

Incidentally, many spray-bottle tops fit directly on the alcohol bottles.

I don't get that one.  Can someone 'splain that to this dumb mainlander?

Native Hawaiian meme?
Something to do with Knutson?
Gargle gives nothing but refs to Salt Lake City's cemeteries.
A zombie reference?

I'm sure it's simple, and I'll give myself a dopeslap when I understand it.  ("But of course!  I should have known!" <dopeslap>)

??? Help!

I think it's a reference to some guy on the forum that got arrested for shooting a pellet gun in a cemetery a few months ago.

Dude was arrested and his pellet gun confiscated for shooting in a graveyard next to his house.  Really long, dramatic saga!

It's a running joke now ...

just got my own bug-a-salt last night and it works pretty darn good against flying insects which do not have a hard shell.  Hell last night I took out one of those huge moths (like 4 inches across) with my bug-a-salt.  sure I had to shoot it like 4-5 times but it did the job!  flies and mosquitoes only require one hit, perhaps two to down it for good.

I'm getting pretty good at using it, I can nail moths mid flight.  they are like small ducks...

pretty darn fun and it works great.  I'd recommend it.

What happens if you fill it with ground pepper or chile powder or something like that?  Could you use it for self defense, you suppose?

the distance is like 1-3 feet at max, your better off using it as a club.
