Title: Widow to Sue Over Fatal Shooting of Husband, 80, by Sheriff’s Deputies
Post by: Darmok and Jalad @Tanagra on February 15, 2014, 12:12:25 PM
The wife of an 80-year-old man who was shot dead by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies in a mistaken meth lab raid is planning to sue the county for $50 million, she said.

On the morning of June 27, detectives raided the couple’s home in unincorporated Littlerock, serving a no-knock search warrant granted because the property allegedly smelled of the ingredients used to make methamphetamine, according to sheriff’s department officials.

There’s a dispute about what exactly happened at the home in the 36600 block of 117th Street East (map), east of Palmdale, but Eugene Mallory ended up dead, shot six times.

No evidence of a meth operation was ever found, though sheriff’s officials say marijuana was found on the property.

Deputies approached the house, and what happened next is where things get murky. The deputies said they announced their presence upon entering and were met in the hallway by the 80-year-old man, wielding a gun and stumbling towards them. The deputies later changed the story when the massive bloodstains on Mallory’s mattress indicated to investigators that he’d most likely been in bed at the time of the shooting. Investigators also found that an audio recording of the incident revealed a discrepancy in the deputies’ original narrative:

That discrepancy was the timing of when the instruction to “drop the gun” was given. Upon listening to the recording, the command from shooter Sgt. John Bones appears to have come after he opened fire, fatally shooting Mallory six times.

I'm reading about this kind of crap more and more. The really sad thing is.....I expected to. The whole "War on drugs" thing has gotten completely out of hand, just as prohibition did back in the 1920's.
We have police executing these "No knock" warrants, that are granted without enough reason by liberal judges, and innocent people are getting killed by cops strung out on their own little power trips. But hey, they're "protecting the public". Right.

We're going to end up turning our homes into fortresses, complete with early warning and surveillance systems, to protect ourselves from the people we pay to enforce the law.

The Police State is here folks.  :wtf: is right.
