Just saying this is a turn off....opinions on this method some use? If you don't have the time or consideration to do this upfront, it only makes one wonder what they can expect. Just my opinion.

I don't mind, I the biggest issue I see some people having is not knowing how to resize their pictures to use the built in file uploader. Then there's those that don't know how to use a third party service to host their pics. I'm sure there are users out there that just figuring out how to post is a challenge.

For me, unless I know the guy I wouldn't bother but that's just me. Imagine if shopping on Gunbroker or Ebay and a seller had no pics and said email for pics. Would this be enticing for a buyer and make you want to pursue the item?

I'm with you, Bunker. If someone says "email for pics," that sets off a red flag in my mind. Why? What do you have to hide, that you don't show pics with the post? Why do you want my email address?
It's like when you meet a "female" in a chat room, and immediately "she" wants to go talk privately, what's your Skype address?
The rare occasions that I've followed up on an "email for pics" ad, there never have been any pics forthcoming. I just take it as an indicator of "Not a serious offer, not worth my time responding."

Not having a picture, using a "file picture" from the manufacturer, or email for pics, are all ways to NOT get an item sold.

I guess that method is for the serious buyer...
"If the buyer is serious, he'll go pass the first step of contacting without a pic...
Some people like me like to see pics, even if I'm not buying or not interested....
I was that kid that needed pictures while reading a book or I would lose focus... ;D

I sometimes do this on craigslist just because I am too lazy to go take photos or get them uploaded right away. I figure if you're serious you'll ask for pics. I never looked at it from the perspective of people worrying about their email address being spammed. I do however also include detailed descriptions. I hate it when someone will post an ad and not give any details what-so-ever. Or even a price. The guy that owns kona guns and ammo has a website but refuses to list what he has in stock in the shop or display prices. He used to have most of the stuff listed, but recently took that down. He also says on the website "we will not give prices over the phone, come down to the store"
With that kind of attitude I say he can go pound sand!

A store I can understand.
When you give people prices over the phone, they never come in.
If you don't give prices over the phone, they come in and look at the price and pick up other ammo, guns or supplies they didn't know they needed until the saw it.

Maybe I am the minority, You refuse to list what you have in stock and refuse to give a price until I waste my time to come down to the store only to see it is way overpriced to begin with? If you give me a price over the phone and I don't come in perhaps your prices are too high. Not to mention refuse to do FFL transfers because you want to "keep it local".... No thanks. Instead I just go spend my money at a competitor that actually wants my business. Then I vow to never spend a cent in your shop again, and to top it off I will make sure to tell everyone else I know not to go there either!
Seems like a solid business model to me ::)

As I said in the original post it is kona guns and ammo. I walked in there when I first saw they were opening before they had even opened and the guys seemed nice enough. Been in a couple of times since and extremely put off each time. Won't go there anymore. I feel sorry for the poor suckers who spend their money in that shop, quite honestly I cant understand why anyone would. Everything has been overpriced and in my experience the owner is not willing to do anything to get your business.

posting a pic is always better than not
its like going into a store and they have a description of the item, but the actual item is in storage in the back.
much easier if its out in the display case.
you can still sell it without the pic, but its much easier to sell if it has one.
I always include a pic with my for sale items, bc i want it to sell as fast as possible.

Posting a pic also eliminates all the tire kickers that ask for photos and then disappear. The people that contact you after seeing photos are probably actually interested.
