I was at Sports Authority this afternoon and one of the guys at the firearms department told me that they will be bringing in pistols in a couple of weeks. Should be interesting to see what they bring and what prices they have.
-
They used to have before the Xerox shootings. They pulled all the pistols after that. They had a decent selection, nothing really outstanding though.
-
Yipeee. I got my first pistol from them, a S&W 3913 for under $400.
-
.
-
that's pretty sweet! cant wait to see what they bring in. They have the league program as well where you get 5%back for everything you buy.
-
Stopped in and the guy showed me the roster. Thirty guns in the first shipment with sixty more to follow. First shipment showed Glock 17, 19, and 30, SIG P2022, P238, and P250, a couple 1911s of various makes, Ruger Charger pistols and LCP, and I think some M&Ps or XDs. Should be in tomorrow (Thurs. 05/15).

Waikele Sports Authority was where I got to fondle a Glock for the first time waaaaaaaay before i turned 21. I believe it was a Gen2 Glock 19. By the time I turned 21, they had stopped producing the Gen2's and already began making the Gen 3's with finger grooves and rail. So I ended up getting a Gen3 but always wanted a Gen2.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't Ruger Chargers determined to be "assault pistols" under HRS rules? If I recall there was a bunch of headache when people bought them and tried to register them at HPD.

The newer models is under the 50 oz rule. Those can be registered.

Blkdrgn beat me to it! Lol but thanks for posting the pics...they just set up the pistol counter 3 days ago.. but I was there yesterday and saw their line up. I asked da guy why they originally ceased selling them...he said one of the reasons was cuz they were losing money on the inventory because they originally did not charge restocking fees for people who purchased guns, didn't pass the background checks and thus required refunds. However I'm unsure if this is still in practice or if they now charge restocking fees...damn I shulda asked. He also said they may be expecting a couple more s&w semi-auto models in the near future.
P.s. I went at night last night so the whole bottom row has been replaced with handguns (including 1 measely 22 revolver) so the line up has changed since blkdragon's photo was taken

Just slightly off the topic of this thread, I hope you don't mind. Sports Authority opened today on Kauai :worship: This is great for us over here on the Garden Island. With that said, the store's manager said that pistol's will be available very soon from this location. He mentioned Sig Sauer and Smtih+Wesson too! They just have to complete things with the PD and then they will be out on the shelves so to speak.
Apparently pistols are only being offered in Hawaii and Colorado Sports Authority locations at the moment . Not sure how true that is but I found that kind of interesting being our state is one of the most anti gun in the country. Who knows, just maybe a paradigm shift may-be-a-happening?

Another way to look at it is, Hawaii has less competition than mainland stores, which means potentially higher prices can be charged. Also, with our over-protective(over-nanified?) permit, registration, transfer, transportation, and use laws for firearms, and our low firearm violence rate, maybe the corporate bubbas think there is less financial risk here regarding liability should one of their products be misused in a crime?
Just a thought.

Maui Sports Authority will be selling pistols as well starting Monday, May 19th...yeah!

Yup, either way it's all good.

Went to Kapolei today to see the inventory. Prices are a little high, but I'm sure they will adjust as needed.
Nice to see our options growing!
