A member here made a comment that he would basically pistol whip someone if they were open carrying.  HiCarry said let's see it, and volunteered to be a sport and give it a try for weapon retention..... haven't seen the other guy post again so far.

It's simple. If you can't defend yourself (this includes the gun that you may carrying and may need to defend) you have no business carrying a gun. If you are unable to stop someone from taking your gun away from you and killing you and other people then too fucking bad, you do not deserve to CCW.

As a ccw you should take the initiative to get your fat ass off the couch and take some defensive tactics classes. It may save your live or the live of others.

That's my opinion. If you don't like it to bad. If I'm compared to hitler for believing that you should know how to defend yourself then so be it.

To obtain a CCW permit there should be a mandatory weapon retention class at the minimum.

If you don't believe that it is very simple to disarm someone I can show you if you choose. I have gloves and head gear. I have no problem demonstrating how I can take your gun away and beat you silly with it.

But then again. You are probably the type of guy that believes that a stink eye is a form of active aggression and is justification to shoot an an unarmed person because he/she looks mean and is bigger and younger then you. Remember! the gun is the equalizer. Idiot!!!!

Ok thx for the clarification.  I saw it referenced more than once and thought it might pertain to something relevant or of legit importance to the community.  While the ccw or open carry discussion has merit, these or similar baiting threads are simply counter productive.

What you call "baiting threads" others might refer to as "calling the troll's bluff" ...

Either is fine!

The discussion has seemed to have a beneficial effect.  Dblnaknak made his last post on April 29, was last online May 17, and today is May 18.  If my math is correct, that makes 18 full days without comment from DNN, even though he has visited the forum during that time.

I'll play along as if this is going to happen.  IMO there are a couple of things that needs to be established .  Distance between the two parties.  Is this disarming technique used when the weapon is already drawn or used when the person is attempting to draw the weapon from the holster?  Is the person with the weapon going to be aware that there is someone that is trying to disarm him?  Are we talking about disarming someone that has a open carry holster or concealed holster?

Needing to establish any type of parameters is worthless.

He will disarm you before you even get out of your car, so distance is invalid.

He will disarm you before you even plan on your initial holstering of the weapon, so holstered/unholstered is invalid.

He will disarm you before you even get the thought in your head to draw your weapon to begin with, so being aware of someone trying to disarm you is invalid.

He will disarm you before you even decide how you want to carry, so concealed or open is invalid.

Finally, we will let Nick Cage close this response:

After perfecting the "Quart of Blood" technique, I found a more challenging exercise to work on:  simultaneously disassembling one person's pistol while kicking a second pistol out of the hand of another person.

Imagine my surprise when I found out some Hollywood types stole my moves!!

Update:

I received a PM from him on 5/17 saying he just got back into town. I have been out of town as well and just got back yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to respond to him. I won't post his PM as I don't have his permission to do so, but essentially he said he'd be willing to "educate" me with his techniques, but only in private. My response to him is copied below. We'll see what happens:

Quote
I apologize for the delay in responding, I was out of town on business.

With all due respect, I doubt your goal was to educate me. Rather, IMHO, it was an effort to push your agenda regarding what many see as an overly restrictive requirements for a concealed carry permit. Furthermore, I suspect that those you accuse of only being interested in "swing conflict" are actually pretty reasonable people that happen to disagree with your position and would like to see you substantiate your various claims made in supporting your position. And, with that in mind, any such "private setting" for this demonstration of your "techniques" to further substantiate your claims would lead to yet more disagreement and opportunity for further discord on the forums relevant to this topic. If education is your goal, and you wish to silence those "dumb asses" who disagree with you, some form of recording the session would seem ideal to make sure the events of that education are not falsely represented by either you or I. And, could be used by others if indeed you end up being correct.

Your objection to any attempt to memorialize this education you wish to share, because it  would only result in injury seems antithetical to your current position that more advanced training should be required for any CCP. Essentially you're saying we shouldn't spar, even with the protective equipment I believe you volunteered for this purpose, because of the risk of injury, yet we should require this level of training for potential CCP applicants regardless of the risk of injury to them? What about someone with a back injury who applies for a CCP? Should they be denied because they cannot participate in the level of training you deem minimal?

The bottom line is that I am more than happy to participate in some event with you in an attempt to demonstrate your disarming/weapons retention "education" but in light of the very public manner in which you made your position known, and issued your challenge, I believe it only fair that it be recorded in some manner or open to the members of the forum which generated this situation. I personally don't have the time or inclination to do that recording, but those participating in the discussion seemed ready to do so and should, IMHO, be afforded the opportunity if that is what the group consensus is.

Regards,
