Title: Does customer service factor in as a deciding factor on where to buy your gun?
Post by: Kingkeoni on May 30, 2011, 12:32:55 PM
So we've had a poll on who's the "nicest" gun shop owners and a poll on where the best deals are so let's see where you stand on the issue of customer service as a deciding factor in where you spend your hard earned dollars.

Yes it does.

I told a young co-worker as you get older (and presumably make more money), things start to deal less with the bottom line cost of an item and more about customer service.

Yes.. How's this example.. I was looking at a certain Mossberg shotty at Magnum, Yes Magnum..    I usually go there to window shop cause they have everything in stock.. Going there with my plan to just look, they had the Mossberg I was looking at online.. I was chatting with Brian (who is super cool) and the next thing you know the Mossberg was SOLD..... Yeah I bought it ??? A little over priced but SOLD... Brian's hipnotic coolness tricked me... :shake:

Yes. Retail is a two-way road. I'm not looking to make new friends when I shop, but I'm certainly not looking to put up with someone else's shit just because they're not having a good day.

Again, hopefully all the store owners pay attention to what influences their customers to spend money.

Customer service definitely influences my decisions of where to buy guns.

Customer service is always an important factor but only in some situations is it the deciding factor.  I've gotten terrible customer service at a store (the employee was smug, condescending and downright rude) and I've vowed never to shop there again, and encourage all my friends and people I introduce to shooting to also not shop there.  That store didn't lose just one customer, but potentially dozens of customers.  Even if they had things priced for significantly less than their competitors, I still wouldn't shop there out of principle.

On the other hand, there is a shop that has excellent customer service but their prices for firearms is usually about $50+ more than another store that has decent customer service but better prices.  I shop with the store that has the better prices.

the store that's made me feel the most "welcome" (at one point) is young guns.  They've got one guy who's SUPER cool.  I don't know his name, but he's sorta a middle aged japanese guy.  When i first got into firearms, the guy went around the shop and suggested cleaning products and gave suggestions on what i needed on ammo and explained how i should clean it, where i should lube etc.  However there's another younger japanese guy that works there that kinda ruined it.  I walked in and he looks at me, then has this disgusted look on his face and said to one of his coworkers "oh, it's HIM", then he walks into the back room.  I have no idea what i fucking did to that guy seeing as how it was maybe my 3rd time in that shop,  but I never went back.

Well I finally made it to OGC today and I have to say the service was outstanding! The salesman was eager to show the weapons in the case and point out different features of each gun. I ended up purchasing an XD9 today with plans to go back and purchase PX4 storm at the end of the week. It was the service that did it for me, I fully planned on making an Internet purchase and just finding an FFL.
